  1. Really? He's thrown 11 pitches for the Orioles. I don't give players a very long leash, but even I'm willing to give him more than one look.
  2. I was like, "Who's Phil Beckett?" then found his posts on here. Oh.
  3. Fenway is OPACY North. I thought we established that after the Curse of Andino.
  4. We are currently beating that outcome by 1 run.
  5. lol Rubenstein throwing out O's hats by Mr. Splash. Class act. I know he's new here etc but he's sure acting the part of the fun old guy owner.
  6. I'm not sure what they expected when they brought up Heasley, but he performed exactly as advertised. Kind of like when you buy a $1500 2011 Chevy Cruze base model with the entire front-end reconstructed and not painted the body color, no A/C, and a college kid private seller who says it "runs great". Hope you have State Farm...
  7. Coulombe gets the award for nastiest pitcher of the game. Wow!
  8. Whew! So the reason they are impressing me in the 6th inning is, this White Sox pitcher has a 2.00 ERA in 18 innings before facing us. You have to figure he's got a working formula to get ML hitters out. And yet, we hung tight, made him throw a ton of pitches, and Adley dropped one in there barely for a pair of runs. Some luck, but loading up the bases wasn't luck.
  9. Ugh. Close challenges never go our way.
  10. We have an at-home snowball maker. We use Kavern Snow Syrup. Made in Baltimore.
  11. Gunnar is a good defensive SS, but we knew this.
  12. He was coming out of his shoes trying to swing at those but couldn't make contact. We know he's capable of shortening up and being a singles and doubles guy, but he was most definitely swinging for the fences there. Or the moon.
  13. It took a couple innings for them to figure out Clevinger, but now they're hitting like the O's we know. It was a question of which Bad News Bears team would blink: the one that has a Bad News Bears record (them), or the one that's been bad lately (us).
  14. OMG! Mateo weavers!?? Sheesh! The guys should be trying to mimic Mateo's PA approach, not Gunnar's, apparently!
  15. LOL. Bounced off the pitcher's glove and still a double play. Any other team would have put up 3+ runs in that inning, but nope, the O's could barely scratch across one.
  16. Wow! Adley hit a ball where a fielder wasn't! And it was to the outfield! Am I hallucinating right now?
  17. Jorge Mateo might be our best hitter of the past few days.
  18. We have far better medicine and knowledge of the human body and its limits than we did in the 60s, but way more and more severe injuries. And pitchers that go 6 innings are considered good, whereas starters that could go 9 innings were typical in the 60s. The results speak for themselves.
  19. I don't mind them trying to bunt with Mullins. I mean, you're not going to do anything with it probably, but Mullins isn't going to get a hit swinging the bat, either, so why not?
  20. I agree overall, but didn't Cowser just fly out to the warning track in the second inning? I know it's easy to miss, it's just an out. Certainly not a sign of them figuring out how to get actual results.
  21. Well, he did. As futile as our offense is, our pitching has ranged from decent to excellent. "You can't win if you can't score."
  22. Clevinger: 24 pitches and no baserunners through 2 IP. Grayson: 30 pitches with a walked-in run through 1 IP. There's a new worst team in baseball in town, and it isn't the White Sox...
  23. The Orioles should seriously hire Bartolo Colon and/or Freddy Garcia as coaches. Their role will be very simple. Let them spend a month warming up to get back to their late-career MLB form, or close to it. Then, have them throw their famous junk balls for the Orioles hitters until they learn how to either (a) hit them, or (b) lay off them and work a walk. A hitting coach that can pitch - with some deception and a lot of movement - would be like chicken soup for these guys. Give them tons and tons of practice with baseballs with movement. Once they get that down, we can worry about hitting an elite closer's 100 mph sinker. Right now they can't hit off of 100 mph or 85 mph. Walking in a run might be enough for the CWS to win.
  24. The last place White Sox showing the Orioles what H I T T I N G is. Waiting for a pitch to hit, and hitting it where we aren't.
