Take a look at the stance of Martin on the HR. He ditched the awkward leaning thing he was doing for a more normal crouch with the bat in a familiar position to start. Looks much more comfortable.
Ill-advised flip to 2B on the DP, though. Too far away from the bag to try that, but Bannon saved him with a nice turn.
Agreed. My dad is an Angels fan, so he knows mainly about the Orioles from what I tell him. But he would have read this article and found it helpful.
National writers aren’t tailoring their pieces to Orioles’ fans.
For the life of me, I can’t figure out why the Padres are playing him in RF. He’s not good there.
He played a catchable ball into a double....went back, turned around looking for a carom and it hit the base off the wall scoring a run.
Biggest improvement I saw was with FB command. Majority of his strike outs were located inner third. Better CH, too, which he kept down. A lot of weak contact, pop ups. Only ball I can remember being squared up was the Ohtani HR.
Not sure about the hit by Adell to Stewart, but after the 2nd the bunt hit in the 5th was the only one allowed. So, definitely not a lot of hard contact.
Pretty good outing today for the second time in a row.
7 IP
3 H (one was a bunt)
6 SO
2 BB
1 HBP
72 pitches through 4 IP and then cruised w/ 20 over the next three.
Looked very comfortable.
