First, I like Hyde, but he and his staff are no great shakes. And you’re probably right, he gets a bit of playing time. But that time eats into Stewart’s and his evaluation over the last month should take precedence. I’ll amend that; they want to see what they have in Stewart. Innings for Mountcastle would mean less for Stewart.

I’m not sure of that. It’s different for a lot of guys. Could be a detriment to someone accustomed to playing full time.

He wouldn’t be getting full time reps with a promotion. It’s hardly enough time to properly evaluate him.

He hasn’t shown a link because it doesn’t exist. There’s also a quote from his coach on his play in LF which (paraphrasing) says he has more time to gather his feet and get his body behind his throws. Perfectly logical that he can be an average defender there.

I don’t think it’s that they consider him not good enough for a trial. It’s a combination of him learning new defensive positions and the controlling the service clock.

Well, in fairness to Wilkerson he’s probably a league average defender in the IF, but we never see him there. He’s certainly not that in the OF.

I wouldn’t disagree with that. He’s looked bad especially throughout the second half.

Like his swing and plate coverage, just wish he’d be more selective. But come on, is anyone unhappy with what this kid has produced?
