  1. Eh, where are you seeing 1.8 WAR? You didn’t specify.
  2. The same way they now have Mountcastle.
  3. Replacement level players are, by definition, replaceable. The difference here comparing Mountcastle and Mancini is salary. If RM is at 1B going into the season there are a myriad of players to DH. And that’s no exaggeration.
  4. So, just wondering, but if you agree about Cowser, where is it exactly you disagree?
  5. Yes, and that’s why they need to be aggressive in the offseason.
  6. I had not remembered it, but great minds....
  7. Hilarious, you say who replaces him, I give you one who should have been obvious and then proceed to move the bar with,”Well, who’s his backup, then?” Anyone who can catch thee ball can play 1B, so I’ll go with Santander. He covers your question for both positions. Kyle Schwarber has never played 1B and he looks fine there. Next
  8. I’ve already said, Mountcastle. And it’s likely AR outproduces Mancini by quite a bit. But it’s besides the point. They already have someone in the starting lineup who outproduces Mancini.
  9. The guy who played 1B most of the season. He could have a better season after a normal offseason. It remains to be seen.
  10. I always have to chuckle at those who downvote because of disagreement. Look, I like Mancini. He’s the type of guy you want in the clubhouse without a doubt. There’s a big difference between that and a guy who provides value on the field.
  11. How is it an extreme outlier? Was his comeback hampered by recovery? Because it was never mentioned. Moreover, I heard he was fine physically and maybe a little tired the last month of the season.
  12. He put up 0.8 rWAR this season and his career average is 1.8. Below replacement level is not providing value and his value is only that which he provides as a clubhouse leader.
  13. There were a few. And sure, it would have been nice to have him be successful with the Orioles, but he’s come back to the pack.
  14. Is that value of a player or a good clubhouse guy?
  15. I don’t see why the off the field issues (coming back from cancer) should factor into their decision on Mancini.
  16. Yeah, the Rays are the only team in the playoffs who have not ever won it all. That’s usually how I determine the team to pull for in postseason.
  17. We can be sure? You know for certain that Elias is under some restrictions financially to add talent? You don’t. I’m sick and tired of them going after guys who have “played well below expectations”.
  18. Horrible call, he definitely offered at it.
  19. Well, Cora is kicking himself, I hope. The Rays still would have had to make the move to walk KS. Didn’t need to pinch run for him.
  20. Right, I do remember that. Owners are loathe to reach into their own pockets for stadium improvements. Too bad because their on the field product is superior.
