  1. Brooks Robinson’s final HR Last game at Memorial Stadium ceremony Eddie Murray’s 500th HR Tito Landrum’s HR in the 83 playoffs The final series of the 82 season with the Brewers
  2. Anyone else hate that ghost runner in extra innings? Lopez didn’t have it tonight and nothing changes regardless. I just think this extra inning runner at 2B is a gimmicky b.s. Why don’t we just have a home run derby in the 10th?
  3. Interleague play took away a lot my interest in the All Star Game.
  4. I’d stand pat and just wait for talent to come up from AAA. I don’t think Mancini or Santander will bring much in return. We are starting to see some signs of life at the big league level so I’d prefer not to see the rug pulled out from under the team unless they start dropping a ton of games in a row. In no way shape or form would I trade Mullins or Hays without a blow away offer.
  5. Players are bigger and stronger than ever before. I’m glad the fence was moved back and the wall is higher. Adjust. The original dimensions were a joke.
  6. I absolutely love the wall and new dimensions. The notch is a bit extreme but not unprecedented.
  7. I'm not suggesting retiring #35 for Cuellar or Mussina. However if you do that for MM, then Cuellar becomes part of the equation. Only number at the moment I would retire is #44 for Elrod. I don't care if he isn't a Hall of Famer. Meant so much to this franchise. I would advocate that one.
  8. With you there. That is the big part of retiring numbers. Where do you stop? O's HOF is good enough for both Mussina and Cuellar. Not advocating the number for either of them. Side note another O's Hall of Famer wore #35 too.
  9. Ridiculous? We will have to agree to disagree. Simple fact is Mussina never won anything. Hated pitching past the 6th or 7th. He was a great pitcher though. Retiring that number for him and not including Cuellar is what would be ridiculous. If it were for both? Maybe.
  10. True and the dimensions were way to short then as well.
  11. Settling this right now. Cuellar. W 143 L 88. ERA 3.18. Cy Young. 3 WS Mussina W 147 L 81 ERA 3.53 No freaking way 35 should be retired for Mussina. Another pitcher wore the number and did it just as good and probably better. Game, set, match.
  12. He's in the Orioles HOF. That is enough. Even though not a Hall of Fame player, if any number should be retired it is #44 for Elrod Hendricks who meant far more to the organization.
  13. I love the new wall. It is something different. Also, as players have gotten bigger and stronger (and can work out without having offseason jobs) the ballparks should be bigger.
  14. Even if the final pitch was a strike, the Yankees shouldn’t have to struggle with a AAAA team in extra innings who can’t hit with RISP. Props to the O’s pitching last night !
  15. Here is everything you need to know about the author of this rubbish. Stephen Ruddy (stephenruddy@gmail.com) is an instructor at the New York based storytelling nonprofit, The Moth; and regular contributor to the New York Times and McSweeney’s.
  16. It still reminds me of the fence in PNC Park but a little more extreme.
  17. Mullins is the only one of the 3 with any real value. No one will be beating down the doors for Santander. Don’t even know why he is mentioned. Mancini has a small bit of value. He’s more valuable to the Orioles than anyone else.
  18. I can’t imagine Horseshoe Casino would be happy about sports betting at either stadium.
  19. I'm on board with the changes. Should make things interesting. Honestly the place has always had a ridiculously short LF power alley.
  20. Let him play in a major league game first.
  21. I'm 53 years old and still liked Memorial Stadium better. Sometimes it isn't the amenities as much as the memories. A winning tradition will do that though. I like Oriole Park but they haven't won anything in it yet. To answer the question though it has held up well which is more than I can say for the franchise. Still love them though.
