  1. I don't have much of a problem with this. A friend of mine who doesn't even like the Orioles just told me he was shocked the O's got a near top 20 prospect in return much less a #30 to go with it. Bundy's velocity has dropped alarmingly. Last year some fastballs were only hitting 89-90. For those panicking, keep in mind we tend to overvalue "our guys". The only real negative is seeing another familiar face go out the door.
  2. The only goal is to win the World Series. If that isn’t the goal, priorities are messed up. As someone posted earlier , the playoffs are a crapshoot. I agree with that. Just having a goal of being competitive though isn’t right. It’s only a short term goal. Play for the ring or don’t play at all. I was appalled when the Orioles organization went nuts celebrating the last division championhip the following Opening Day. . Small potatoes.
  3. Palmer is the antithesis of what stat geeks look at.
  4. After reading through this thread and the whole Mike Trout vs. Willie Mays comparison one thing that gets missed. Willie Mays sold cars in the offseason, Trout doesn't have to. Big money, technology, and knowledge allows Trout to be better in the statistics. It's why I choose not to compare eras. Just say they are the greatest of their era. As for the who not trade thing this goes against the grain, but I wouldn't trade Mancini. You still need some face of the franchise on the big league team and I don't think he would garner much in return. After seeing what was in the Red Sox lineup the other day at positions not first base, I think Mancini means more to the Orioles than he would to a contending team.
  5. O's may have dodged a bullet not signing Victor Victor Mesa to that 5.25 million dollar signing bonus. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/mlb/tougher-afl-ahead-for-struggling-víctor-víctor-mesa/ar-AAGz9C8 "A consensus Top 100 prospect before the season began after excelling against much older competition in Cuba before defecting, Mesa has found it extremely tough adapting to the level of minor league play, posting a .237 batting average over 115 games. That includes a recent promotion to Double-A Jacksonville, where he has looked particularly over-matched (.184/.208/.204 in 109 PA)." "his production at the plate has been so poor that a productive major league career is now far from certain."
  6. It is easy to say it after the fact, but certainly I’d have rather seen Yaz than some of the garbage we’ve put in the outfield this year.
  7. I can’t watch it with that awful super imposed strike box on during the live pitch. Makes it look like a video game.
  8. Michael Olesker wrote that piece on this and he is as far left as you can get.
  9. I was paying 9.25 a beer last night on domestics. I honestly think the Ravens are cheaper on that now Bud light in a metal bottle.
  10. I know I don't post all that much but good to meet a few of you and place some faces with the names. My family had fun. Would love to do it again.
  11. Just took advantage of this for tomorrow and Hawaiian shirt night. That's a hell of a discount. Sitting in row 13 seats 1, 2, 3. My name is Ed and this is my daughter Kristen. Her first O's game a few years back.. She's a little older now.
  12. I thought a local owner named Peter Angelos would be the savior of the franchise in Baltimore.
  13. I find Brown to be boring. He only talks about the game going on and stats. I like a few stories and anecdotal information, the way Palmer does it. Lots of dead air between Hunter and Brown. Let’s face it these games are boring and I don’t care that the Seattle second baseman takes a 15% longer lead on the bases than the average player and that kind of thing.
  14. Does Rutschman being almost major league ready make a difference? His first few eligible years would be on a really bad team. Would it be better to go with Witt and let him develop over these lean seasons? Not advocating it, just asking.
  15. I don't care what happens but I can't stand watching games on ESPN and MLB Network when they have the strike zone box on live. (Or as Mike Bordick would say "punch out box") I do like seeing it on a replay like MASN does though.
  16. Video footage. I have the entire game but this clip was on youtube. Reggie Jackson with the Orioles
  17. Get Ben to replace Mike "in the zone" Bordick and his "punch outs".
  18. I have a Monday Night Baseball game on DVD from Memorial Stadium with Reggie playing RF for the Orioles. Might have to upload it to youtube. It's against the Royals very late in the season and the stadium is empty. Reggie hits a double.
