  1. He’s got eight errors in like 30 games. That’s not good man. It’s simply not good at all. Translate that to the majors and imagine how upset you’d be seeing us lose because he booted a ball. No, Hyde has shown time and time again that defense is just as important as offense. Why do you think he so sparingly uses Kjerstad?
  2. Honest question, what is it about Miller that makes him get accolades like this? He’s good, sure, but he’s not worth anywhere close to what these guys were talking about. Like, there are other relievers who could arguably achieve similar results. Its just odd to me that he’s such the flavor of the month right now.
  3. He will surprise you. It’s not easy being a role player on a good club. Defense is paramount and Mayo needs to improve his before he gets a chance. Simple as that.
  4. I don’t disagree that Mayo may provide more offensively but as we have seen time and time again, the jump from AAA to the majors is extremely tough on rookies. So off the bat, I expect him to slump pretty badly so now you are replacing a similar or worse bat with a much worse glove for, what? A month? No, I’m afraid Urias is the better option. Never forget that a run saved is equal to a run earned. Mayo knows what he needs to work on and what is keeping him down in AAA. His defense will improve.
  5. Offensively, yes, but Mayo has a similar number of errors as he does homers so he really has work to do with the glove. His time will come but right now, Urias is the better option.
  6. Ding ding ding. The union is the problem. It is the impediment to incentivized behavior in the sense that if you don’t do well at your job, you get fired.
  7. Wouldn’t you rather them be relegated to their own forum? It’s impossible not to see considering the title. It’s just such a bummer to see and they push off quality content because they usually just create polar reactions. Its click bait and bullshit.
  8. I’m sick of these asinine threads of ludicrous trade offers. Can we please create a separate forum where these ideas can go unseen? They should be not be cluttering this great orioles talk forum. Povich for Scott? Basallo for miller? Can we please stop with this nonsense so my blood pressure doesn’t spike from stupidity?
  9. What’s interesting about Cowser is in the Red Sox series, he was covering the low and outside pitches and going with the pitch to left. As soon as they tested him inside, he crushed that too. Now, it seems like he can’t cover the outer third as well. Simple adjustment and he will back to life!
  10. Um taking out the heir apparent at catcher behind Adley would definitely shorten the window. I get that Miller is the flavor of the month, but if you look at analytics, you’d realize, while he is good, how much better is he than the next guy? Versus a premier position at catcher for the next 5-7 years? Well, that’s a no brainer for me. But we can agree to disagree!
  11. No, the window is more important than just one year. Ten years vs. 1-2
  12. Petition to have a separate trade forum for these types of discussions.
  13. It’s upsetting to me really. Either they are knee jerk reaction types or they have no concept of what they have. I’m not sure which is worse, but it’s upsetting all the same.
  14. If he can’t pitch one inning two out of four days. I’m not sure what to say.
  15. #@$%. Maybe Suarez should stay as a starter then. Move means to the BP as a long reliever. Also, having depth is super nice.
  16. I agree man. Put him on the 15 then 60 then maybe his arm will be strong enough for the closing stretch. Or use him as a trade piece, no clue.
  17. He pitches the same usage as the rest of the guys. Quite simply put, he’s old. He can’t handle the closer role any longer if he can’t be called upon to close out games and nab saves when needed. Him not being able to do his job means more pressure put on someone else to carry his load. On top of that, he has likely said “naw, I’m good” more times than just now and well, there’s a lot of close games in baseball. So now we need two closers because the old man can’t hack it?
  18. When Kimbrel goes on the IL this week, just go with Closer by committee until Suarez assumes the role, cano as setup guy, dfa ramirez when Bradish gets called up and pray that Perez comes back to form or Charles can make a cano-like jump in command. July we will bolster the bullpen via trade and hopefully by then kimbrel will actually be healthy.
  19. And it took all of 30 minute for the injury to be disclosed which means he hid it from Hyde and the trainer when they went out to check on him. It’s clear as day. Dude placed himself above the team and Hyde should be absolutely livid he believed him before sending him to the showers and bringing in Tate. His outing on Friday was similar so it can be reasonable to assume he was injured then as well. If I’m Hyde, I’d use this as a way to build character for the rest of the team and highlight what Kimbrel did as the wrong side of things. Team first always. Honesty always.
  20. Managers aren’t going to throw their players under the bus. You’re never going to hear that. Trust your eyes man.
  21. And my thing is, it was obvious. Too many data points to indicate anything other than that’s what happened. You think Hyde is cool with losing a game because a pro put himself above his teammates? I don’t think so. Hyde is going to be pissed for sure. It’s disappointing and I get Kimbrel is a competitor but in this instance, it was a selfish move and I would think would affect trust between player and coach. When Palmer can see it, and he knows pitching, you listen.
  22. When he goes on the IL this week, we will know for sure. Look, the guy has earned his stripes and guys like that get greater leeway. You think he didn’t say “I’m good?” You think the fact that he didn’t throw anything but fastballs wasn’t a giveaway? And what was that shit on the top of his cap? Like I said, Kimbrel is in the doghouse. It’s going to take a lot for him to climb out. Closer by committee until Suarez assumes the role, cano as setup guy, dfa ramirez when Bradish gets called up and pray that Perez comes back to form or Charles can make a cano-like jump in command. July we will bolster the bullpen via trade and hopefully by then kimbrel will actually be healthy.
