    Couple of questions.

    1. Was that legal?

    2. What would happen if we appealed?

    3. Would you have appealed if you were running the O's? Why or why not?

The rule is each player must have a unique number.  Don’t know why you wouldn’t appeal.

Bonds is a big 2A guy.  But also a Bernie Bro.   Go figure.  I kid, I kid.

But seriously though, I think Bonds’ reputation is shaped by the guys who covered him and didn’t like him.  You don’t hear bad things said about him from teammates.  I hated him when he played, but in hindsight, wished I was able  to enjoy his greatness.  Though I’m petty enough to be happy he’s ringless.

I was lucky enough to see him in A ball when he was still Bobby Bond’s kid.  His brief stop at that level was awe inspiring.  It’s nice that image comes to mind first when I think of him, not the later stuff.

If the lighting at Buffalo's Triple-A stadium isn't up to major league standards and there isn't enough time left to upgrade the lights, there's an easy solution.

The Jays can play all their home games during the day.

OK, Blue Jay players, which would you prefer - playing all 30 of your home games in the daylight in Buffalo or playing all 30 of them in the visiting team's park?

They said it would take a week to install the new lights.  I saw players complaining that it wouldn’t be a “major league caliber” facility.

That actually might lead to a strategy;  if you have 2 outs and no on in the 9th inning of a tie game, pinch hit your fastest guy.  If he makes an out, he can start the 10th on 2nd.  If he gets on in the 9th, have him try to steal.  If he fails, he makes the last out, so he starts off the 10th on 2nd.

Fangraphs had an interesting article about the various strategies that might be used.

Guess Sisco's arm is feeling better.

If a catcher gets hurt in a home game, Bowie is just down the road.   In a road game they will have a taxi squad of 3 guys from Bowie travelling with the team in case they need to make an injury move.   A C (Holoday or Wins), a hitter (probably Herrera), and a pitcher.

Kind of surprised that Hess and Phillips made the team, I guess they really didn't want to lose someone off the 40 man to put a Valdez or Eshelman on the roster.

Roch said Holaday is on the taxi squad, Wynns is going to Bowie.

He may be starting Opening Day, but that's out of necessity given how the rest of the rotation was lined up. The only way he finishes the season in the rotation is if someone gets hurt. We have Cobb, LeBlanc, Milone, Wojo and Means, but I expect Stewart, Akin and Kremer to get looks and someone will have to make room.

I like that everyone else stays in their spot.  It was a good pickup, IMO.  He may not be awesome but at least he has the potential to make 5-10 starts and perform at a MLB level.

If he could get on base at a .340 clip somehow, he'd be alright.

I've often wondered how many players would need an adjustment to their swing/approach to become a good or even great hitter.  Some players find it, some players don't.  Some players run into the right coach that can make the right adjustment and fine tune them to become a good hitter.  Look at Jose Bautista.  Look at Brady Anderson.

Umm, those two guys might not have only changed their swings.

Looking over the schedule today, I didn't realize the Orioles are playing all their evening home games at 7:35 rather than 7:05. Looks like the Red Sox made the same decision to move their home games later in the evening since they don't have to worry about fans coming to and from the park.

I think 7:05 games are better so kids can watch more on tv, but I am fairly agnostic on the issue for this season, since there are no fans in the stands.

I much prefer 7:05 games in person and would favor 6:30 games like the Rays and Blue Jays have, especially since the Orioles don't draw many fans from the DC area anymore which was often the excuse for starting later on weekdays. The Nats are starting most of their home games at 6:05.

They were scheduled for 6:30 on the original schedule.  I prefer them earlier if no fans are going to the game.

It’s hard for guys who don’t have the skills, but these guys do have the skills and they are still terrible. The people who make the hiring decisions are idiots.

You don’t want someone with a monotonic voice, and you don’t want someone who doesn’t talk in an engaging way.

Kevin Brown is unlistenable. He doesn’t seem interested, he doesn’t say anything interesting and he doesn’t say it in an interesting way and he doesn’t have an interesting voice.

They should get Weasel from WHFS.  He has an interesting voice.

Buffalo or Rochester would be kind of neat. But there are factors that we don't know about -- like the costs to the BJs, lighting quality, quality of the off-field facilities, setup for TV -- that may push them elsewhere. A lot of empty ballparks out there.

They had already made backup plans in Buffalo (to some degree). Makes more sense to play at their affiliate than somewhere else.
