  1. Good point. I was looking his overall breakdown for 2022, but now that he's at Norfolk it does appear 2B/SS is the plan for him. His bat seems ready wherever he plays.
  2. Is there really a reason to leave him in Norfolk much longer when the 3B job is screaming for someone to claim it?
  3. Obviously, Mateo is no Belanger, but he's by far the best SS option we have at the moment. The data that shows he's well above average defensively, so it makes sense to play him there. That said, it's the offensive boat anchors at 2B and 3B that prompt many to find another lineup option. If we had reasonable offensive production at 2B and 3B, couldn't we live w/Mateo at SS until one of the young players is ready?
  4. Agree, but even more ridiculous that Santander didn't run hard to first. I'm surprised Palmer didn't point that out more vociferously.
  5. If he can hit .265-.270 w/a .335 OBA and 12-15 HRs, with his defense and base stealing ability, why not keep him. He's only 27. Now, whether he can put up those numbers remains to be seen.
  6. Lowther's DFA is understandable, but do we really need another infielder who can't hit?
  7. Now this I can get behind. I love Palmer and Ben and Dave Johnson are quite listenable. Between the actual visual of the game and the added studio graphics, do we really even need a play by play person on a broadcast.
  8. I don't mind Melanie, but good lord is Roch terrible in the tv booth. I'll take her any day over him. Stick to blogging, Roch.
  9. In a manner of speaking. I'll just leave it at that.
  10. I just want Santander gone.
  11. I don't know if Martin can play third, but he sure looks like a more than competent utility guy. He's got well above average speed and has logged CF innings in the minors. If he can hit a little, it's one spot (albeit a relatively minor one) we don't have to worry about.
  12. For me, it's not so much that I want to "see" Martin, but more that I want to unsee Owings.
  13. The part that bothers me is Elias' comment that GR "could" start next year in the rotation. Could? SMDH. I'll assume his rehab goes according to plan, but if he's not in the opening day 2022 rotation, that's just crazy.
  14. Why on earth would you take Tate out now? I guess I have more faith in Tate than Hyder does.
  15. I'm not quite ready to blame the beat guys when the FO tells us things like GRod "still has a few boxes to check." Really? Which ones would those be? I just don't understand the reluctance to inform the fan base. This isn't the NFL where we don't want the other team to know whether Lamar will play in the upcoming game.
  16. It was hard to tell, but a good first baseman picks that throw. Still, if Odor had been playing in the infield, it's a routine play.
  17. I'm probably in the minority here, but I hope he goes somewhere else. Here, all he really does is block a spot for one of the younger infield prospects that might actually prove to be something.
  18. That's already passed hasn't it?
  19. Who was the last 39 year old not named Bonds or Clemens to put up respectable numbers? Just sayin. Granted, Odor's terrible, but there are other options/names who've been mentioned in this thread.
  20. Will we now see Vespi sometime in the near future?
  21. With Monday a minor league off day, any chance Adley comes up to the big club tomorrow? He's got 37 PA's heading into today. How many does he need?
  22. I'm all for Adley getting AB's, but from what I've read he's a below average first baseman. Leave Mountcastle at first and DH Adley on the days he's not catching.
  23. Under no circumstance do I want to see Mountcastle lose at bats to Mancini. Mancini needs to start hitting - end of story. I also don't want to see Adley at first unless the minor league numbers show he rakes when he plays there. What can the Orioles realistically expect to receive for Mancini and/or Santander? They probably have more invested in Chirinos, so I think we know he stays.
  24. For a team that asks its fans to buy into the next gen players, the lack of transparency and information. has become quite problematic for me. Providing regular, specific updates about the progress of guys like AR or Hall is not giving away state secrets. Stating that guys like Bradish need to be stretched out into the 6th/7th inning before being called up is ridiculous. Who do we have on the ML roster now that's doing that? Means certainly wasn't. If they can go 4-5, that's enough. I've given Elias the benefit of the doubt, but my patience is wearing thin.
  25. Time to see Diaz on the big club?
