  1. or the Nissan runaway bride commercial.
  2. I agree, although in the 2nd half of the game, she replaced "absolutely" with "definitely".
  3. The last time I heard Melanie do play-by-play was during spring training. She sounded much more engaged last night and was greatly improved. As for Sarah Langs, she knows her stats but her constant use of the words "Absolutely" and "Definitely" got a bit irritating after a while.
  4. The team definitely knew about it last night. Alex Wells got the call at 11:30pm last night to say he'll be starting the day game.
  5. He was still in St. Pete, apparently remained on the taxi squad instead of heading out of town.
  6. Some teams (i.e. the Nationals and the Yankees) have been doing split day/night doubleheaders this year, which means fans are paying for 9 innings but only getting to see 7. In a case of a split DH, each game needs to be 9 innings since fans are just paying for that 1 game. In some cases this year, fans had already purchased their ticket for a game and then it was switched to 7 innings after the fact. Very unfair since the teams are not refunding any portion of the original ticket price or discounting any of the tickets even with the shorter game.
  7. Aaron Judge was an example of that. But I am thrilled that Trey will be in it, and I can't wait to see how he does.
  8. Leyba scratched from Tides lineup tonight per Roch. Looks like we might be seeing him in Buffalo tomorrow.
  9. I heard that too on yesterday's broadcast, but doesn't the manager have to tell a player to go out and pinch run? Is it even possible that Hays just went out there on his own without instructions from Hyde?
  10. I haven't been to Cleveland but from what I heard on the O's telecasts this week, their PA announcer sounds great. Informative and powerful but not corny or over-the-top. An example of him I heard the other day on TV was "Stepping up to the plate....for the Orioles....the leadoff hitter....centerfielder....#31.....Cedric Mullins" (and that was in the middle of the game, not the 1st inning). And sometimes he announced for an Indians player: "Now batting...for the Tribe...." Here is a video I found about him: https://www.facebook.com/BallySportsCleveland/videos/inside-the-park-indians-pa-announcer-bob-tayek/10156409226034951/
  11. Yes, the Nats Park announcer is definitely enthusiastic, to say the least, but I do like their live organist (the Trop, Target Field, Truist Park, & others have good live organists too). Would love to hear live organ music at Camden Yards, but I'm sure that's completely unaffordable at this point,
  12. I was thinking that he covers his mouth with his hand because he doesn't want the other side reading his lips.
  13. Are you referring to the fact that before each pitch he throws the ball into his glove multiple times? From what I've noticed, he only started doing that this season. Also, I believe I've seen (on TV) the umpires say something to him several times this season before he went back to the dugout after finishing an inning. MASN announcers never mentioned it, but I did see it at least twice, maybe even during the no-hitter.
  14. Josh Donaldson asked publicly the other day if it's a coincidence that Gerrit Cole's spin rate went down significantly in his last start, which was right after 4 minor leaguer pitchers were suspended for using foreign substances. Donaldson seems to think it's not a coincidence. Cole will be pitching against Donaldson and the Twins on Wednesday, which will be very interesting.
  15. Well, it appears the umpires took Jorge Lopez's cap today after the 1st inning, according to what I was reading on another blog. MASN announcers never mentioned it, but apparently the Indians announcers did.
  16. Good notes. One update: Matt Harvey will be used as an opener for tomorrow's game (1-2 innings, like his normal side day) and then will be a bullpen game after that.
  17. I don't think they'd pay 400K to put Martin on the 60-day. More likely they will DFA Sisco who is likely to clear waivers anyway.
  18. That made me laugh, and yes you are right.
  19. Wynns is not on the 40-man, so it sounds like there will be a DFA before tomorrow's 1pm game.
  20. Yes, I was also convinced from the 1st replay that it was a foul tip. I'm not sure if that is a reviewable play, but I agree that it was surprising the O's didn't say anything to the ump.
  21. The D'backs had lost 13 in a row but they won today to end the streak.
  22. I wonder how many times a pitcher has gotten 3 saves in 2 days.
  23. Palmer has had a lot of good observations lately. And the chemistry between him & Garceau has improved too.
