Another question.   If Collier ceiling is a good hitting 3B with some power, what advantage is there in taking him over Brooks Lee who profiles as a good hitting 3B with some power?    Brooks Lee is more of a sure thing.    I'd have to believe that Collier has a much higher ceiling in order for me to take him.

Yep….and always a chance Lee sticks at SS

I'm warming up to the idea of Collier. A lot to like.

I have my doubts that Druw Jones will hit for premium power, especially at Oriole Park. My worry with him is that he's more of a glove first/athlete type. I'd rather draft a premium hitter with premium power, with some defensive ability (as opposed to GG defense being the leading tool). If Collier turns out to be a stud 3B who pushes Coby Mayo to the outfield or 1B, that's a great problem to have.

We have Westburg & Henderson at Norfolk. We need a premium SS. Mateo is great defensively but longer term…..

Noticed the announcer on that video had the tidbit 7 of Mayo's HR (12 total on season) have come against Jersey Shore.

Only 5 homers against rest of the league, seems important.

I like to think I'm smart enough to say I don't know. I think Jones sounds the best.  Johson has a beautiful swing but I'm worried that the best HS hitter in the last 20 years is hyperbole.  I saw him get blown away by Brock Porter but that was only one game.  Brooks Lee doesn't wow me. Elijah Green feels like he has the most bust potential. Holliday and Cam Collier basically came out of nowhere the last two months.  Who has Holliday faced?

I know I'm not an expert but none of the experts say that it would be crazy to pass on Jones even though they think he's #1.

I would prefer they take Jones but I certainly don't think I'm smart enough to ridicule the pick if it's not Jones.

I mean, I'm not the draft expert that Christian Colon, I mean Sportsguy is.

Great post, agree on Green but keep in mind he has a professional sports family too so I think that reduces the risk, same with Jones & Holiday.

Because the guy last year was pretty much a singles hitter and they are trying to get him to tap into his power.

I knew that. Should have said so but he just started…the power would likely come, no? Just seems too early to make adjustments on a first rounder that’s hitting, ya know?

I think the fact that Termarr came for a workout at OPACY means something.  I doubt they ask him to do that unless he's in serious consideration.   I also believe that he gets them the most savings underslot at #1, among the names mentioned.  Another LH bat (all of Elias top picks bat LH).

Oh boy. You usually have good insights on these things too. What’s your personal rank? I like Jones obviously but like Lee for the safe underslot (read very conflicting things about him sticking at SS but sounds like a 3b), Holiday, Green & Parada. Anyone outside if those are disappointing in my eyes.

He seems to have his rhythm down. Batting average up to .435 through three plate appearances today. Would like to see him moved up to Aberdeen on Tuesday and hopefully to Bowie by the ASB.

One level at a time for me. Given all he’s been through, Aberdeen for an extended period is just fine with me unless he overwhelms there too. Very happy for him. Might be the best story so far with GRod’s dominance #2.

Off to a good start despite some ugly numbers before coming to the O's.

    8 IP, 1 ER, 3 H, 3 BB, 8 K

    5 IP, 0 ER, 2 H, 1 BB, 10K

Small sample but enough to raise an eyebrow.

That’s positive. AA but still good to see. How long does he last on the 40 man.

I did see that.  Doesn’t mean he 100% abandoned what they had him doing.

Why are they making adjustments to a guy that was red hot last year?

Elias said this draft is like the Adley draft.

With that draft, he felt there were 3 players that could be the #1 pick in a lot of drafts.

So, if you look at that and he says he has 5 players in mind, I doubt he believes 5 guys from this draft could be the first pick in other drafts…although I guess he could mean it as a lower slot pick, ala what Pitt did last year.

But if you were to take that comment on face value, I have to think he means guys with the talent level to go 1 in other drafts.

I think Jones and Green fit that criteria.  Who else?  I don’t see Johnson because of his size, position and questionable athleticism.  I don’t see Lee or Berry.

Holliday is the other guy I could see.  Maybe Collier?

So I think he is really down to 3-4 guys, not 5-6.  He mentioned the gamesmanship of the draft, so I think some of that is in play here.

If I had to bet, I think he takes Lee.

Mmmmm, I don’t know.   Cowser is showing good power this month.  It may be a case of slightly overadjusting at first and then readjusting back a little but not completely.   Too small a sample to really say.  I’m encouraged by Cowser’s recent performance but let’s see how things go over the next month or so.   I’d like him to do enough to earn a promotion to Bowie and then perform well there.

There’s a quote by him saying they tried to make adjustments to his stance and he had difficulty. Not sure what you don’t know.

Cowser is looking really good. OBP is now .394 and he’s hitting much better. Hopefully in a month that slow start will be in the rear view mirror.

Orioles tried to make adjustments…and no bueno.
