  1. Os fans to Tony after JH goes 0-11
  2. Just trying to help Jackson settle and fit in.
  3. I had originally written “a bit better” but corrected it to “a tiny bit better” right before posting
  4. I think the at-bats looked a tiny bit better in Boston if I’m being honest. I think the decision to play him is much more nuanced than that though, that’s my point (or really, Rosenbaum’s point) Maybe Hays matches up well with Peralta’s pitch mix or delivery dynamics? Maybe Mounty needs a breather for an unknown reason? Maybe the upcoming sequence of pitchers or off days is contributing? Maybe their bullpen is set up in such a way that Mounty might be highly valuable in a pivotal PH moment later tonight? She goes into and beyond all of these dynamics. It’s so much more nuanced than our ability to fully assess based off the valuable but limited information that we see. And believe me, I do it to, it’s fun! We’re fans at the end of the day, and they have and will be wrong again with their process. But their process is much more involved than many around here give credit.
  5. Don’t see why we can’t start calling runners left in scoring position ROYs, at least in the game threads. His fandom has earned it if he’s down. ”Too many ROYs left out there tonight” ”Adley’s been cleaning up on the ROYs this month”
  6. There's a fantastic Eve Rosenbaum interview floating around in a few of the threads wherein she discusses in great detail the process with which they put together the lineup. They take a significant number of variables into account, oftentimes with information we as fans just won't have access to. I'm not saying its always right, but to assume it's just vet favoritism every time we see a choice we don't like is just not a valid critique. They have organization-wide discussions about this and their careers are tied to how well these decisions work out over time. It's not the lazy shoulder-shrug so many want to make it out to be.
  7. That's passion, love it! The game seems to wear on you a lot and I don't envy that, but it'll make the parade that much sweeter when we get it. I do think we need to name the left on base tracker column after you though. I don't know if there's ever been a runner left on base that you haven't convinced yourself would cost us the game
  8. Based on the game threads, if this team is like an early relationship I'm assuming you must've been tough on the girlfriends back in the day
  9. Holliday debut, plus good weather, plus exciting road trip, plus good record. I'll be a bit alarmed if they don't average 35k fans for this weekend series.
  10. Pretty amazing that we'd happily take both a .500 reduction from Cowser's OPS and a .500 increase to Hays' OPS
  11. I wonder what the market for someone like Hays will be. Santander I can see commanding real money, even if its on a 1-year deal. If Hays really does fill the McKenna role and actually ends up embracing it, is there any way we'd look to bring him back on a short term, low cost deal if his market didn't materialize? I don't think we'd ever tender him a contract at Arb 3 for that role, but I don't know what he'd command in FA either. I really do like what he offers in that RH OF spot where we don't have a clear-cut prospect knocking on the door yet. With that said if someone offers him a starting job opportunity/salary, I'm sure he'd take it, and I'm guessing at least one team out there would.
  12. Got him yesterday before the game
  13. Just looked undisciplined between McGuire and the defense. Duran looked pretty good with the bat.
  14. Hays has a little bit of a "I might have just lost my job" look when they cut to the dugout
  15. He was shut down from throwing between the injury (sometime in January) and the beginning of spring training, when they began to have him work in gradual throwing over increasing flat ground distances for the majority of camp. He wasn't pitching off a mound until late in ST, and we haven't gotten much of an update since then with him reporting back to Sarasota. All of us I'm sure are interested to see how he looks and what he's throwing in that first rehab start, and then unfortunately we'll probably be watching every pitch with bated breath for the rest of his season, however long that ends up being.
  16. “The Os have turned Isaiah Campbell into soup.” I’ve got a toddler and another on the way but this was the moment I realized I’m officially a dad and actually legitimately laugh at dad jokes now.
  17. Ok Ben McDonald with the call!
  18. How much did Westy and Mullins miss HRs by?
