Is the wild card game the playoffs?

I know of course technically making the wild card game means the O's are in the playoffs.

But personally I feel like this won't be a truly "playoff season" unless we make it to the ALDS. (Which I think we will)

The wild card game is one super exciting night... but it doesn't have the ups and downs, day in day out, feeling of a real playoff series.

Yes they are since 2012. There is track to the world series, so they are part of the playoffs.

I see it as a play in game but technically it's a one game playoff series. The 2016 Orioles qualified for the post season and should be proud win or lose Tuesday.
