Great pitchers can still be effective at 35. Yeah it will probably be somewhat of a burden in year 6 or 7, but I think the Nats will be fine.

Especially when the MASN lawsuit is settled.

They spent as much in payroll in 2019 as they did in 2012-14 combined.

Even so, Forbes reports their 2018 revenue at $452 mm and operating profit at $87 mm.   So, it seems they can afford that payroll.

It certainly won’t be eliminated.     I’d say a significant increase could happen.    It’s already increasing year by year, but I could imagine a good bump in the next CBA, and possibly a floor, though not a dramatically high one.

Sure, every team can.

But that interferes with ownership profits.
