Teixeira watch part IX....The final stages?

Geez that last sentence basically identifies Stan Kasten or Ted Lerner as the source as they are the only ones that can make the offer.

Just wow, you would think that Olney would find a better way to write that so it doesn't look like Kasten or Lerner said it... again, silly ESPN.

So far no one's rushing to end the stalemate. We know that at this point.

So where are we come January? Eventually the Nats start talking to Dunn, or the Red Sox look at other ways to upgrade their club.

We could be the last team standing. Slight chance at that, but it's possible.

That is what I worry about. If we're here, hoping to be the last team standing, and we don't get Tex...we end up having wasted a lot of time, and we don't really improve the club.

How many people here would go ahead and call Boras today and offer 9/$189 with a strict time limit by which to accept?

I would, because I'm just not as patient as AM.

I'd offer him 9/200 but only because it's not really my money...

wait a minute, here... if they sign him to a HUGE over-market contract, does that mean I have to overpay per game to watch him play?

As I see it, those "strict deadline" arrangements never seem to hold fast and don't seem to force the issue w/r the player and his agent.

On the flip side, though, if the Orioles are in the game this late, then that HAS to be a good thing. If MacPhail didn't think there was a chance of getting Teixiera, then he would have bailed out a long time ago to focus on other needs.

I think he should put in for some pallets of eyedrops as well, my eyes are hurting.

Do you think we could get a class action together regarding eye damage in relation to constant refreshing... there is also some emotional distress issue at play here.

Pitchers and catchers don't report until Feb, and Tex is neither, and that is plenty of time for clubs to bid against themselves for which you seem to be arguing. That is why it is taking this long.

    • I  agree with that  I still wouldn't mind another WR especially if they lose one of the main 3 due to injury. Bateman still scares me but it would be very nice if he's finally living up to his first round billing. What safety or pass rusher are you interest in ? I'm seeing people mentioning Baker from Arizona he would cost a lot.
    • You’re not really allowed to say that. How guys happen to perform for a couple weeks in October is a matter of their character and personal makeup. It’s not random. How the team fares in those couple weeks is the only meaningful measure of its quality and the competence of those who built it. It’s not random. After all, aren’t the storylines all the same things we’d talked about all season? No way CLE and PHI could rely on those shaky bullpens. And HOU and MIL were stuck counting on guys like Hader and Williams to shut down games, recipe for disaster. The LAD pitching would obviously outduel SDP when it counted, and the Tigers made the grave error of relying on someone like Skubal in a winner-take-all against Matthew Boyd. The Yankees are winning thanks to the production of the guys at the bottom of their lineup and by far the best closer in the playoffs. As we all predicted, Bobby Witt, Manny Machado, Luis Arraez, Austin Wells, Josh Naylor are all among the very worst qualified hitters in the playoffs. And expectedly, the best hitters have been guys like Brayan Rocchio, Giancarlo Stanton, Mark Vientos, Jesse Winker, and Kyle Higashioka. And of course, it was basically a dead heat between Dylan Cease and Max Fried for worst SP in the playoffs — and an absolute runaway for Emmanuel Clase as the biggest one-man disaster in the entire playoffs. What’s random?
    • Problem is Cleveland's pitching has been suspect too. If Cleveland can get some better pitching they can push this series to 7 games because Yankees bullpen is getting hit hard. I see Cleveland winning the next game and then the Yankees close this series out in game six back back at the Bronx.
    • Apparently Naylor got under what would have been a 3-run HR. Cleveland should be done, but stranger things have happened. And this NYY pitching is looking mightily suspect.
    • I agree the first round of playoffs there was very little offense in the Wild card and ALDS  but these two series has been ton of runs because the starters are nit giving you even 5 innings.
    • But he looked good tonight. These managers are burning these relievers so much.  Then guys aren’t as sharp or even unavailable. Its really over the top.
