Temple's football teams had gone 0-38-1 in their last 39 games against Penn State before today.

That losing streak ended with today's win over the Nittany Lions in Philadelphia.

It was also Temple's first home win over a Power Five conference school since beating Kansas in 1942.

After spotting the Nittany Lions 10 points in the 1st quarter, Temple dominated the rest of the football game, scoring 27 unanswered points for their first win over Penn State since 1941.

The Temple defense hounded Penn State quarterback Christian Hackenberg all afternoon, sacking him 10 times on the day.

Temple is 4-0 for the first time since 1974.

Temple's first full football season was in 1930.

The only seasons in which the Owls started out at 4-0 or better were in 1930, 1932, 1935, 1936, 1974, and now 2015.

Aside from a very close loss to Notre Dame, the only other defeat on Temple's 2015 record was to a team that finished the season smoking hot ...... South Florida, who won 8 out of their final 9 games.

The Owls will now play the Houston Cougars (11-1) for the American Athletic Conference championship on Saturday. A possible trip to one of the 6 upper-tier bowl games (Orange, Sugar, Rose, Cotton, Fiesta, and Peach) may be at stake, especially if the one-loss Cougars prevail.
