  1. That's good and everything, but his stuff just doesn't impress me and he doesn't have a go to strikeout pitch. Maybe the Orioles can get him to improve him changeup and become a better prospect overall. I'll be surprised if he's protected or taken in the Rule 5.
  2. Nice find. This kind of stuff helps me know who to ask about. Thanks.
  3. Good to see. There is talent in this young man and he just needs PAs.
  4. Wait, where did these numbers come from? I know Mountcastle didn't have a great season, but -0.7 WAR for 1B seems low, even if Nevin and Aguilar were the others.
  5. That's the "it" factor that makes great closers. I agree, he never seems shaken, even if he gives up a run or walks a guy. His ability go to the splitter or even the slider at times in fastball counts really made him that much more unhittable at times. He's a great development story for the Orioles.
  6. The young man had a hell of a rookie campaign. Without going back and looking, Greg Olson is the only other rookie who I can think of who was able to dominate as a closer as a rookie for the Orioles for an extended timeframe. I still remember watching him after he started to put up his eye popping numbers at Frederick, but I was skeptical until I watched that first video. When the announcer said, that was 100 MPH, I was like, what? Then I watched and batters had no chance. His command wasn't great and he's come a long way even since last year in that department. My favorite story was when he threw 100 MPH fastball that buzzed a right handed hitter up by the head that sent him spiraling backwards. The hitter was so shook up by the near miss, the trainer had to come out and talk to him. In all my years or watching baseball at every level possible, I've never seen a trainer need to be called for a hitter who was only nearly hit, not hit. lol
  7. The Pirates do an outstanding job of televising their home games in spring training. Let's hope we get them on the schedule a lot on the road.
  8. When you start throwing 97-99 MPH, he's a keeper for most teams. lol
  9. 23 years with the same minor league team is a hell of a run. Good luck to him. By the way, he was the assistant GM. I believe Brian Shallcross was still GM.
  10. Always interesting to see the fWAR next to rWAR. The biggest difference is that I see rWAR seems to value defense and relief pitching more than fWAR. Biggest delta between the two was Cional Perez where rWAR had him at 2.8 but fWAR had him at just 0.6 for a 2.2 WAR difference. I think fWAr is a little low on relief pitching because they Bautista at just 1.4 vs the more realistic in my mind 2.6 rWAR. But at the same time, does anyone think Urias was worth 3.6 WAR after playing just 118 games this season and slashing .248/.305/.414/.720? His defense was good but not that good.
  11. If anyone would have told me that coming into this season that the Orioles would win at least 30 more games, end up a winning record, and Adley Rutschman would have a 5.0 WAR season, I'd be pretty happy. With good young talent like Rutschman, Henderson, Stowers, Hall and Bautista having arrived, Grayson Rodriguez, Jordan Westburg, Joey Ortiz, Colton Cowser, and Connor Norby close, and the big steps forward by Dean Kremer, Kyle Bradish and Dillon Tate, and the emergence of Cionel Perez, Brian Baker, and Keegan Akin as a reliever, this team is pretty close. With a good offseason to acquire a top of the rotation starter and perhaps one more starter, as well as one more big bat, this team will be a true competitor even in the AL East. Things are looking so bright, I gotta wear shades!
  12. I think most understand and can converse with their teammates in English, but feel more comfortable talking in Spanish when interviewed.
  13. I don't know about that. He seems to understand a lot of English because when he's been interviewed, he understands the questions but answers in Spanish like most of the Latin players.
  14. It doesn't track who gives rep.
  15. Well, if you go by reputation given this past year, the leader board looks like this: 1. Frobby- 4124 2. Tony-OH - 3120 3. Sports Guy - 2231 4. Can_of_corn - 1949 5. Moose Milligan - 1652 6. OsFanSinceThe80s - 1289 7. SteveA - 1225 8. RZNJ - 1173 9. justD - 1000 10. DrungoHazewood - 953 So for about the 20th year straight, Frobby is the OH poster MVP! lol
  16. So here's your chance to vote for the Orioles Hangout Orioles MVP this year.

This is where I'm at. I honestly just want 82 wins and the young players playing well. Anything else is gravy for this season.
  18. Good start on the 1st drive. Several 3rd down conversions and went 93 yards after a holding penalty negated the long kickoff return.
  19. After going toe to toe with Michigan last week, the Terps have to beat and down Mich St. today. They have to limit mistakes and turnovers and they can win.
  20. Most likely because he hurt his ankle pitching to Judge. He finished the inning but the Orioles probably weren't going to risk him going back out.
  21. Thanks. The parks were all closed for two days so we lost out on one of the days of our hopper plus we had a two day at Universal and only went once. Kinda sucks but I don't want to feel too bad for us when there are people who lost everything, especially down by Ft Myers. Just awful. But, it was fun to find the Orioles game on MLB network and watch the last two innings. I was having Orioles game withdrawal even though they haven't been playing well.
