  1. Fry should not have been offered a contract last year. They could have resigned him on a minor league deal but the way he collapsed last year was a huge red flag. And yes, Vespi is the guy I'd bring up though they could consider giving Kevin Smith a shot in that role. Fry will easily make it through waivers if Smith made it through.
  2. You're saying that's your OPINION of what they are doing. We know the Orioles are ultra conservative when rehabbing players, but play a few innings at catcher make a bad throw, get pulled, DH the next day, then not play at all on day three seems a pretty strange way to rehab a guy. You very well could be right, but we'll find out for sure tonight when the lineups come out. If Rutschman is not catching DL Hall in Aberdeen, then something happened.
  3. DL Hall is scheduled to start tonight for Aberdeen. https://www.milb.com/gameday/blueclaws-vs-ironbirds/2022/04/29/674599#game_state=preview,game_tab=,game=674599 If Rutschman is not catching, there is definitely something wrong with him again.
  4. You will get no arguments from me on how poorly this organization informs their fans. While I respect Elias in what he's doing, his regime by far, is the worse regime I've covered when it came to giving out information to the fans. Particularly in a time when the fans should be excited and focused on the prospects coming up with the major league team continuing to be embarrassingly bad under Elias.

    Coby Mayo 2022

Yeah, he'd have at least two more home runs this year if he was playing in Bowie's stadium vs Aberdeen cavern.
  6. Without a doubt, the jury is still out on Elias' drafting. Until his players show up in the major leaguers and start to do well, he's done nothing more than draft "prospects". He's had 4 drafts so far and two out of his top five prospects are Rajsich's draft picks. Not surprisingly those are both pitching prospects (Rodriguez and Hall). Heck, the jury is still out on the effectiveness of the international signings. Their first class of signings have not exactly done much in the states with Luis Ortiz, Luis Gonzales, and Leonel Sánchez all struggling in the FCL last year and none of them being in Delmarva this year. Now grant it, the first group was signed just seven months after Koby Perez was hired to rebuild the international scouting department, so these guys were late bloomers or left overs, but still, they have not done well. Outside of Pinto who looks interesting, the DSL guys received in the first trades by Elias have not exactly looked great with Deson and De Leon struggling in Delmarva this year. So yes, it's fair to say the jury is out on the scouting, drafting and development with the Elias regime until his players start to show up and contribute to a winning major league ballclub regardless of where the farm system ranks by national prospect publications/sites.
  7. Rico Garcia a rehabbing former major leaguer, he doesn't count.
  8. Before we start talking about the end of Rutschman's catching days, maybe we just see how this plays out?
  9. Let's give the young man a little time to get acclimated. I know everyone here is interested in him, but's its unfair to focus too much attention to every at bat and every situation this early in his career. I'm just happy the young man is getting his opportunity and hopefully he'll make the most of it.
  10. I watched Feliz last year and thought the fastball slider combo was decent, but he doesn't have much command. He's a slinger with a good, but not 2022-great arm, but the K rate this year certainly will have me keep an eye on him and try to watch him once we get some good video angles.
  11. There were rumors that Rutschamn had shoulder issues when he showed up after being drafted and the way the team has treated him catching wise (playing him at 1B and only catching him 4 days a week last year) gives some credenence to that concern. Now obviously we can say that the Orioles were treating him that way to keep his legs fresh, but how many other teams have done this with their catching prospects in the minors? It is a bit concerning that he made one bad throw, came out of the game, DH'd, and then was not in the game last night. Seems a strange way to get a full healthy guy ready for game action at the major league level. If he's not catching tonight, it's time to be very concerned.
  12. Yes. Saing that, there are some guys I haven't fully evluated yet though like Armbruster, Tavera and Van Loon.
  13. Looked like he was trying to see if it was going to stay fair. Watch the umpire have to go out and call it. But yeah, it appeared to be another bomb.
  14. Outisde of Pinto, the Ironbirds may not have another legitimate pitching prospect. Maybe Tavera but still early on.
  15. Let's face it, Mancini has been an absolute zero this year at the plate. Coming into the game he's slashed .111/.143/.278/.421 in 21 PAs with RISP. He did knock in one today, but he can't be batting 3rd in any major league lineup right now.
  16. Ahh, now the HR factor makes more sense.
  17. Henderson has improved his plate discipline and he's only made 1 error in 11 games at 3B, two things he needed to improve on from last year. Not to be a Donnie Downer, but the other major thing he needed to work on is hittng lefties. So far it hasn't been good overall though obviously a small sample size. He's slashing .143/.333/.214/.548 with 3 walks and 6 Ks in 18 PAs. Saying that, I did see his one double on a 1-2 pitch and he's getting deeper into counts a bit, so those are good signs. Still, he's going to have to prove he can hit lefties to fulfil his full promise at the big league level. He has time to work on that this year, but if he has another full season of struggling against lefties, it will be concerning.
  18. lol... Nah, I remember my fails as well. Luis Jimenez, Radhmas Liz, Chance Sisco (though I did jump off his badwagon faster than others) were all guys I saw personally and ranked top ten at some point. I would say Billy Rowell, but honestly once I saw him live a bit, I dropped him before most others and by Frederick, I was convinced he was not a prospect. I mean, it's not like I argued that Jeff Fiorentino was a prospect after Syd ridiculously jumped him from High-A to the big leagues.
  19. Who said it was "mark of death" or that he was not a prospect because of not making a full season club? I said it was concerning that he was not able to beat out the guys selected over him. Sometimes I think people over react when I say "yellow flags" or concerns. Concerns are just that, things that I want to keep an eye on to see if they become "red flags". We'll know more once we see how he performs.
  20. Ok, that's a little valid for your point, but I think it had more to do with the fact that he didn't get off to incredibly hot or cold start in the first two weeks.
  21. I'm surprised Aberdeen is not worse, but then again, if you can pull the ball down the lines its not that far.
  22. Allowing two runners per inning is not good.
  23. Remember, Sig's computer think Odor and Lakins are major league baseball players. Gutierrez too. Maybe it's time to see what he can do in Rocket scientry again.
  24. 3B should be where he plays 90% of his games. He's going to be an oustanding one there.
  25. Who is down on Gunnar Henderson? Can you show examples on what you're talking about especially when you've decided to generalize an entire board.
