  1. I wouldn't say that. He was very critical of the Orioles when Elias arrived and got rid of most of the old school scouts and minor league personnel. Like me, it dried up most of our contacts.
  2. These quotes by Hyde tell me he's going to surgery. It's always a hail mary to get that second opinion.
  3. Did Connolly actually credit Elias for DFAing "guys he traded for" after he kept them on the 40-man roster all winter and Mattson for the last two unneccesarily? Everyone had Smith on their top 30 lists, some as high as top ten and I just couldn't figure it out. The second I saw video of him I saw a one trick pony (good slider) without much else.
  4. Personally, i think the idea of the 1992 prices for tickets is genius and has brought many more fans to the stadium already then would not have come. As for concession prices, if anyone hasn't noticed, everything is higher EVERYWHERE thanks to inflation that we have not seen since the early 80s. Are consessions outrageous, sure, they are, but they've been that way for a long time and most people just kinda figure that into the equation. Took my son to a WWE wrestling match at Royal Farm Arena and the cheapest beer was $16. Grant it it was 24 ounces, but that was cheapest they had and food was crazy high there too. I like the idea that the Orioles allow you to bring in your own food again if you are on a budget. Everyone knows they are going to pay a lot of money for alcoholic beverages at sporting/concert events. As one person said, if that's your driving force to attend, get pre liquored up at Sliders or Pickels. Now, the long lines and lack of vendors is a problem the Orioles should be able to do something about.
  5. I'm shocked at his strikeouts so far. Maybe he's trying something new like trying to lift the ball more but considering he started the season in High-A ball, I did not expect the strikeouts. Hopefully it's a blip and not a trend.
  6. Well ran organizations that want to win at the major league level make players force their way to the majors. They don't run a unicef competition to see what AAAA pitcher they can bring up to face the Yankees.
  7. I meant in that inning, but yeah, they are not good with RISP.
  8. Let's remember folks, we live in world where Mike Elias thinks Odor and Lakins are major league players.
  9. Here comes the fastball up for strike 3
  10. Guess the outcome of Odor's at bat here. 1) K 2) GIDP 3) weak pop up
  11. You were obviously never an Orioles prospect.
  12. He's got the typical 8 week off tricep strain.
  13. He was throwing in the outfield looking like he was coming in they he just walked off the field when Holt came out to check on him.
  14. Then maybe don't use him with the heart of the order coming up. They should have never have tried to bring Baumann back after that delay anyways.
  15. Moves like this really make me question what Elias is doing or honestly, if he knows what he;s doing. Lakins was not good AAA. Why is he the guy you bring up when you need a reliever? Because you can DFA him and you don't care if you lose him? Guess, what, that's last year's BS. Sedlock, Hartman, Diplan and Vespi were probably all better options.
  16. This is 100% on poor pitching management. First, why start Baumann in an inning when a storm is coming? Second, why do you put Lakins on the roster? He's not good. He was DFA'd and no one claimed him, why, because he's not good. Why Elias has some kind of GM hardon for him is beyond me.
  17. Hell of a throw by Mateo there.
  18. He's out, but good Lord Lakings is terrible.
  19. It's pretty ridiculous. I'm sure he's proud of his son, but no one should be wearing Sr. on your jersey unless your kid is in the league!
  20. There's the Lakins we know. Gets Judge down 0-2 and then walks him. Gets Rizzo down 1-2 and he smacks an RBI single. This is the guy you had to add to the 40-man again?
  21. That's fine, but I'd rather go with what medical science and MLB organiztions have done for years. I don't think the kid gets better twiddling his thumbs in Sarasota.
  22. Lots of fair analysis here. I certainly won't argue that the organization is better off as a whole, especially the system. However, I just see such a lack of care about the fans in this process. Whether it's the awful penny pinching decisions or just their flippant ways of dealing with the fand]s through their lack of transprarency with news and information through the media, it's just very cold and impersonal. At the end of the day, only wins at the major league level will make fans care.
  23. That's great news for him, his family, friends and fans!
  24. That's not the Tides guy, that's the Railriders' announcers.
