  1. Nice job by Bemboom framing that one and nice job by Lyles to hit his spot.
  2. Have the Orioles committed an error this year that hasn't cost them unearned runs?
  3. That should be an error on Mancini. Gotta catch the ball.
  4. Oh, it seems like the Orioles got their run for the game. We'll need to hold them to no runs. lol
  5. He's just a man against the boys. Never seen so many batters late on a 95-96 MPH fastball.
  6. Watching him just dominate AAA batters tonight, it's time to get him up.
  7. I don't even know what you are talking about when it comes to Hart. Where did Hart come into OUR conversation. When it came to Hart, that was just really poor scouting. He was terrible and I never liked him after I saw some BP and game footage of him at one of those perfect game camps. He had one tool, speed. At the end of the day, Stewart was a bad draft pick and not the kind of tool set I would have been looking for in a 1st round pick if I were drafting. We can go back and forth all day on whether having Stewart on the 40-man prevented the Orioles from getting someone else (I would argue obviously they would have had to have another outfielder), but at the end of the day, he's gone, I doubt he'll be claimed, and I would not be surprised if he ends up only filling in at AAA this year as he shouldn't be a priority play.
  8. Why? Making obvious bad decision at 3B is part of the new analytics. This whole run on contact from 3B and one out on ground balls to a drawn in infield is definitely new. It's complete garbage, but i bet some program spit it out that there's a 23.9999998 chance the runner will be safe but if they stay and have score with two outs, there's probably like a 23.999997 percent chance they'll score historically. not taking into considering the next batter, the pitcher, weather, or anything else. Just slaves to the analytics. I have never, ever been in support of over aggressive third base coaches. I can still remember yelling at Tom "the human windmill" Treblehorn for getting guys throwing out by 20 feet often. Maybe he was ahead of his time.
  9. Plus, who could have been playing in his spot and maybe created more value? Sometimes keeping around those first round picks while they "scrub it up" at the major league level costs the team because it stops them from getting better players. At the end of the day, Stewart's bat was never going to offset his poor defensive value. In the first round, I think you have to take someone with better tools all around. Even in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th rounds, you can see Elias taking guys with multiple tools, even if they are flawed in some way like most picks. The good news in this draft is Mountcastle was the comp pick at #36 in this draft so at least Rajsich made up for the bad pick by getting an upside high school power bat that worked out. Oh, and he also selected Mullins in the 13th round so if you just change Mullins and Stewart's draft positions you think it shows he knows what he was doing. lol
  10. They're typically not available in the clubhouse when the media is let in so it's hard to get quotes from them.
  11. Most likely because analytics told Hyde that it is better to sit on base and wait for a hit because statistical probability suggests it will eventually happen. the problem with that is it takes away the human factors and emotions. Sometimes guys just need something different. Sometimes they need little emotional pick me up of a double steal or the pressure it puts on the pitcher to account for fast runners on base. I love a lot of what statcast and some other analytics do for baseball, but it's become a very walk/strikeout/home run outcome heavy league now because of all of this. The lack of shifts should help next year, but really I miss base stealing, caught stealings, hit and runs, and all the little things that made things a little more interesting.
  12. Yep, and that's why he worth keeping an eye on.
  13. He's got age on his side for sure, but I'd like to see a little more plate discipline. Also, he has struck out too much for a guy without much pop. Basically he has an empty average.
  14. But they do have the worse broadcast. Greensboro is pretty pitiful obviously for not providing anything, but there is no reason for Aberdeen not to have an announcer, pitch counts, and a few different angles. As for Cowser, he did strike out once while also walking once. I still won't be concerned until May if his K rate doesn't fall.
  15. He has a real unbalance swing. He's always out in front and hits a lot of ground balls. I'm not sure I've seen him really drive a ball. For a guy who is 6-foot-4, he runs a little gangly (like Nolan Reimold) and i just don't see the power projection there without some major swing adjustments.

He's built pretty solidly from what I can see so I don't think there's a ton more velocity in there. Rangel is more tall and slender so there is some thought he could gain velocity as he fills out.
  17. The producer does typically go as well, but not sure about equipment. I would imagine they have to bring their own and the producer does most of that stuff.
  18. I went ahead and fixed the title and first post with the correct time zone.
  19. Nashville is a growing city while Baltimore remains a dying one unfortunately. Baltimore survives on it's surrounding county citizens, but many of them have stopped going into the city due to it's out of control crime and violence problems. I used to love the city. Now I only go in when I absolutely have to. Went to Nashville back in 2020 and walked around freely and never felt unsafe.
  20. I only miss the sports coverage of the Sun, but I wouldn't give them a dime if I found it on the streets.
  21. Announcers typically fly on the same charters as the team. Basically you just got to put them up in hotel rooms and give them per diem. It's chump change to Billionaires, but any way they can save a buck they will. To hell with the fans. Who cares if the announcers can't get flyball calls right and are little bit behind the action on some plays, right?
  22. You're not really wrong, but if you look at that 1st round, it was a really weak draft. Austin Riley would have been a nice pick for sure, but the truth is, unless you think a guy has a very special bat, you can't take a guy in the first round with no other playable tools. As for Stewart, he had his opportunities and either struggled or battled injuries. Since that Barry Bonds like hot steak in 2020, Stewart has slashed .189/.314/.340/.654 in 369 PAs. At the same time his defense had slipped to the point that he became a liability to not only the team, but to himself out there in the outfield. I will be surprised if someone claims him as most teams aren't looking for a below average hitting DH.
