  1. Yeah, he'd been around for awhile. Seems like they used him more as an org guy to fill a position of need in AA vs there was some break through. Once he struggled badly it was pretty clear it wasn't going to last long. Ferguson was Buck's son's draft pick. He was very raw but had some tools, just ran out of time.
  2. At the end of the day, DD got what he could for a guy who was a three month rental. If Kremer ends up a back of the rotation guy and Diaz can become of something of value, that's not the worse thing in the world. It would be a better return had Elias not lost Pop for no reason.
  3. I sure hope not. Rutschman should be up here and starting next year. He'll be 24 years old and will have a full season of minor league ball under his belt including I'll assume half a year of AAA. The Orioles would have him under team control from 24-29 years old. No reason to play any other games with him after this season.
  4. Because he's on an awful team that is 24th in attendance (8,692 at home and 4th worse drawing team away 10,844). The Orioles are a national after thought in MLB.
  5. I watched him against Norfolk and he's really special offensively. They have themselves a good one for sure. If the Orioles were contending like Tampa, Rutschman would be here because he's better than Severino and Wynns. But I doubt Elias is going to start his clock in a last place year.
  6. I think we all are pulling for both Santander and Hays because they are very talented, but at some point, we have to realize that their bodies do not allow them to play at a high level very long before getting hurt. It's like Hunter Harvey. Talented arm, but no way you can count on him to make through the season at this point. It's just the nature of the beast and unfortunately, the Orioles have three youngish talented major league players in Hays Santander and Harvey that you can not count on to stay healthy and one minor league prospect in Yusniel Diaz. I wonder if moving Hays or Santander to more of a 4th outfielder position would help them stay healthy? I don't know, but I do know if you run these guys out just about everyday they are going to break because they always have. They have starter's talent, but fragile bodies. It's really the worse combination because teams will always think "This time, they are healed and will stay healthy." I guess the only good news is we are finding out about these guys before the team really starts to count on them to help win games for a competitive team.
  7. I need to see him hit off-speed pitches and good velocity first, something he has not done very much off in my looks at him at AA and AAA and his small sample size in the MLB. Basically pitchers were throwing balls by him in his major league time, but I'm not taking too much off that because he wasn't getting any regular playing time. Mckenna slashed .234/.327/.357/.684 in 817 AA PAs. He slashed .256/.331/.380/.712 in Delmarva. He went 5-for-8 with two home runs in 2-game stretch this past week that made his overall slash line in AAA this year look good OPS wise. He does have some pop, certainly has speed, and defensively is pretty solid overall though he's better suited for Camden's LF. I still think he can provide some value as a 4th outfielder, but I don't think he's going to end up a solid everyday starting outfielder at the major league level because I don't think he'll bring enough with the bat consistently.
  8. There are just some on here that believe pushing a guy quickly is the way to go. It's there right to have that opinion, but I don't think they really understand the complexities of what the organization is evaluating before moving guys. But hey, it's a message board and when a guy goes 4-for-4, he clearly needs to be promoted! lol Saying that, I prefer to see guys challenged once they've shown they're handling their current league, as long as there is a playing time positionally for them.
  9. McKenna doesn't have the minor league track record that Mullins had. McKenna had that great year in Frederick and has been mediocre otherwise. McKenna does have some skills, but he can't hit offspeed pitches very well and unless he finds a way to get better at that, he's going to struggle offensively at the major league level.
  10. All fans have "Hope" that there prospects will be good. Most unfortunately end up disappointing that hope due to various reasons including injuries. Diaz has never been able to stay healthy over extended period of time and other than flashes, he hasn't put up numbers that suggests he's going to be anything other than a 4th outfielder at best. IF, and this is a big IF, if he can can stay healthy and motivated maybe he'll surprise, but he's not a guy I'm counting on to be a big part of a winning future here.
  11. He's got a very short, compact left-handed swing that generates good power to all fields. Seems to have a nice idea of the strike zone and doesn't looked overmatched by offspeed pitches. I need to see him more against upper velocity, but it's hard not to be impressed with his bat. Defensively, he's short for a first baseman (listed generously at 6 ft) and doesn't look like he has a lot of quickness over there, but I haven't seen anything that makes me think he can't play there effectively. Once he made the adjustment at High-A, he's been very impressive. Considering he was basically a senior sign last year, he's been very impressive on his ability to not only hit, but hit for power at the professional level so far. If he ends up in Bowie the second half of this year and hits well there, I think you have to consider him a legitimate 1B prospect.
  12. Jones has been playing a lot of left of late at Norfolk.
  13. Well, it's because they are. It's nothing personal, and they both are good ball players when they are healthy, but they just can't keep themselves healthy. Some guys' bodies just don't hold up.
  14. Rarely is the answer. Look it up. Managers tend to stay away from back to back games from their relievers unless they have to and definitely unless they are both night games.
  15. He was, but it was clear from the beginning that he was not himself. Why, because he had pitched less than 24 hours before. His velocity was down and slider wasn't moving, yet Hyde doesn't get anyone up until he loads the bases. Rushes Wells in and then it implodes. Awful, awful pitching management.
  16. Santander should have made the catch. He got there in time. He missed it. Obviously is ankle caused his slowness but he needs to make that catch.
  17. This is EXACTLY why Hyde should be nowhere near managing a contending ready team.

    Infield defense

In my mind the Orioles are doing a lot of these guys any favors by moving them through multiple positions. Now that Westburg has been moved to Aberdeen, Henderson should be the everyday SS. They have calmed things down a bit in Bowie where Grenier is basically the everyday SS. i get it that they have depth, but put the guys you think have the best chance to stay at that position and you move every one else around.
  19. Updated with some new moves including IL stints for: DL Hall- Bicep tendonitis Terrin Vavra - Back Anthony Servideo - unknown
  20. Is it possible for us to have one conversation on here without you getting on your soap box about service clock games? WE ALL GET YOUR OPINION ON THIS SUBJECT!
  21. About all we could ask of Eshelman. Nice job. Wells comes in with the K.
  22. It was time for Sisco. He really doesn't bring anything to the field. There's no energy back there, he's a poor framer, and his bat was slow. Cumberland deserves a shot before giving him another shot and they have Ciuffo back so no room for him to up PAs anymore.
  23. Jannis pitched last night.
