  1. Agree with this. The number one priority should be locking up Henderson, Holliday, and to a lesser extent, Adley. Not that I don't want Adley around...I'm just not sure how many years you want to invest in a catcher. Making a deal for a guy like Burnes this year could be an annual/semi-annual kind of thing. Maybe you splurge one year and trade for a guy with two years left before FA where you may have to give up a bigger prospect. I don't think it's smart to have long-term money in pitching.
  2. I think the game has changed so much since Ryan and Jenkins were pitching. They didn't have all the technology that's around now used to work on hitting and pitching. I think Ryan's raw stuff could play today for sure, but would he have the same effectiveness?
  3. I think everyone just needs to relax. If we're still having this conversation in 2 weeks, then maybe they will send him back down. I'm guessing that the kid figures it out and will be fine.
  4. I don't watch the games, but I do watch game recaps on YouTube daily and saw the two game on MLB last week. Seems to me that he's trying to pull everything. Maybe he needs to start trying to hit the ball the other way for a bit. I do agree that he WILL hit.
  5. I dunno about you, but I don't have a good feeling about either one of those guys contributing this year.
  6. Wells needs to be in the bullpen where he can hopefully show a little more velocity. I think they really need to acquire another starter.
  7. I think Irvin is a better starter than Wells.
  8. Nope...he's got the gig he always wanted.
  9. Well...I think hitters are going to make adjustments to that. Let me just say the last two Boston starters did not impress me much.
  10. I'm not sure about that last sentence. Their starters have no track record and look like they totally rely on sweepers and breaking stuff. Once hitters start leaving that stuff alone, I think they will get hammered.
  11. I honestly could not figure out how the O's weren't hitting those starters.
  12. This Duran dude is gonna be a pain in our butt.
  13. Gotta face 3 batters. Guarantee you that Cano would have been in there...
  14. My thinking is that Santander and Hays are likely gone after this season. I could also see Mountcastle being dealt if Mayo is ready. I'd keep Kjerstad as pretty much a full-time DH, let Stowers/Norby be the Lowenstein/Roenicke of the early 80's teams in RF, Cowser in LF and keep Mullins around for another year in center, hoping that Bradfield is ready for 2026. Of course, all of this hinges around everyone staying healthy and continuing to produce.
  15. Uh...yeah...7 years in the minors with a .670 OPS sure doesn't impress.
  16. When I said "better than Scott", I don't think it necessarily means a reliever. I was thinking of dealing Hays for a young arm or two that Elias/Sig may see nice peripherals in the lower minors. That would allow them to deal Hays AND promote Stowers or Norby or Kjerstad.
  17. I think we may be a little hasty on Hays. If we are going to trade him, I'd rather it be for someone better than Scott.
  18. Caught the tail end of the Marlins/Yanks game last night on MLB after the O's game...I'm a "no" on Mr. Scott. He was very wild and did not look comfortable even though he picked up the save vs. the Yankees.
  19. Westburg's homer looked like it was shot out of a cannon.
  20. Ramon seems like a good guy. Personally, with the versatility and speed we now have on the infield, I'd rather keep Urias as the backup infielder than Mateo. To me, the only thing Mateo offers is speed.
  21. Kemp was ALWAYS a puzzling move.
  22. We really don't know if he was available. His price tag is certainly going up now.
