Broadcaster looks like he spent an hour getting coiffed before he went on the air, including his beard.
-
In the two older games, the starting pitcher was still on the mound in the 9th. Those were the days! Of course, if they’d gone to some gas-throwing reliever for the 9th, maybe those homers wouldn’t have happened.

Okay, I am going to lay into Cowser a bit here. In the majors, a runner on 3B with less than two outs is advanced slightly more than half the time. A runner on 2B with nobody out also is advanced a little more than half the time. Cowser has had the most opportunities with a runner on 3B and less than two out of anyone on the team, and he’s 4 for 14 (28.6%) in those situations. He’s also had the most opportunities with a runner on second and nobody out, and has advanced the runner only 3 times in 9 opportunities. In RISP situations, he’s hitting .222/.250/.417. In Late & Close situations, he’s hitting .095/.130/.238. In high leverage situations, he’s hitting .048/.046/.095. Honestly, right now he’s about the last guy I want to see up in an important situation. And that’s ridiculous for a guy who’s hitting .250/.331/.500 overall. He’s got to get his head screwed on straight when it matters most.

As of the end of April, their RISP numbers were excellent. But I’m not even talking about getting hits with RISP. Right now they can’t even make productive outs.

It makes perfect sense. They wouldn’t have activated him if they didn’t think he was ready to play.
-
Five times today, the Orioles had either a runner on second with nobody out and failed to advance him, or a runner on 3B with less than two out and failed to score him. Just terrible situational hitting.
-
Rosenbaum has directly denied this. She gave a long explanation of how the lineup gets made. Many people have different kinds of input, and Hyde makes the final decisions.

Click on the very top part and it takes you to the correct post in that thread. Half the things predicted there were wrong.

I was really happy to see that double. When Hays is right he wears out that part of the ballpark.
-
Blue Jays did an amazing job of spoiling good two-strike pitches today. They made Bradish work for every out after the first inning. Also, Bradish’s command of his slider wasn’t the best after the first inning.

I think 3/4 of the field trip kids were playing on that indoor playground.

The bullpen ERA is dropping like a rock. 3.23 overall and 1.97 for May.

I’m happy with the standard white. Might be hood to kick the font size up one (says the 66-year old).

It’s always tough to judge things in the middle of a team slump. Nobody had a problem with the approach when the team was hot. I do find it odd how far the pendulum has swung from last year to this one.

Good thing we have an off day tomorrow to get these guys healthy.

Adley sez: “bat speed is highly overrated!”
-
I didn’t realize until post-game that Adley is a confirmed Blue Jays killer. In the penultimate page of today’s game thread there’s a link to a video of two Jays fans watching the game and giving commentary and they were clearly terrified of facing Rutschmsn in the 9th. Then their reaction when he homers is must-watch. “Rutschman is clutch as F***!” “I just hate the fact that we’re going to have to play this guy for the next decade of time!!!” (I hope so!) Anyway, I looked it up, and before today, Adler’s career numbers against the Jays were .342/.423/.594 with 7 homers and 22 RBI in 31 games. Those numbers just went up! Here’s the video if you want to see it - you need to fast forward to 6 minutes or so from the end. Kudos to @clapdiddyfor digging this up.
-
I have to admit, that was pretty hilarious. But as fans, we’ve all been there. I feel sorry for those two die-hards.

Rosenthal is an excellent reporter, in the sense of digging up news. When it comes to offering opinions, I don’t put much credence in his.

4.1 scoreless for Bright today. Not sure why, but he was pulled after allowing a double with one out in the fifth, after only 67 pitches. Bright has allowed 0 or 1 run in 5 of his 7 outings.
-
I’ll be interested to see the catch probability on that.
-
I’m sure he’s ready or they wouldn’t have activated him.
-
Honestly, I like it better. Saves me a click. I don’t really like the yellow font though.
-
I’d be okay if he hit .240 with 35 homers, especially with a good walk rate. I’m glad he’s pushing for more than that, but that would play well.
