  1. I remember Murray’s 9 RBI game. It was against the (then) California Angels. He was 4-4 with 3 homers and 9 RBI’s in just 6 innings! I think he ended 4-6 but could be wrong.
  2. Happy to be representing O’s fans at Ed Smith stadium today! Can’t be more impressed with our young talent. Coby Mayo is much bigger than I thought, and Heston Kjerstad looks strong. Also, Jackson Holiday looks like he’s added some height. Many signed autographs or took pictures with fans. The present and future is bright! Picture shown is Coby Mayo.
  3. Wow! Just wow! Very Robert Irsayesque. Tons of respect for Dan! Can’t wait for his article after his warehouse visit next week.
  4. It would lead me to believe that they are entertaining a sale and trying to get maximum value for the franchise.
  5. Hell yeah! I’m in! Let’s feather up! It beats “finding some nuggets”.
  6. We need veteran SP depth. It’s a very young and inexperienced rotation. I think a guy like Gibson could help with the young pitchers and clubhouse. I don’t mind this move at all. He’ll also be moving into a much friendlier park.
  7. His performance at the AFL was a big surprise. He’ll likely move back into top 100 prospect status. I pretty much wrote him off several times already, but he’s clearly making major strides.
  8. Hard to disagree with your thinking. I definitely would like at least 1 arm for the rotation. Not sure Rondon is the guy, but someone who can be relied upon every 5th day. I’ve also been on the “trade Mountcastle” train. Would do the same with Hays if possible. I’m not a fan of trading Santander. Would also like a middle of the order bat. Palmeiro was a great fit his first go-round. Would love to have someone of that caliber. I know you said 3, but also need to bring in some bullpen arms as they seemed to wear down at season’s end.
  9. I’ve seen some on this board along with some baseball insiders suggest that Santander could be moved this off-season. While we could get our largest return by trading him (more so than Hayes but maybe not Mullins), should we really move him. He’s the closest thing we have to a middle of the order bat, and at an OPS near .800 with 27 HR and 79 RBI, are we better off keeping him. He has a good arm in RF. While Hayes won’t provide as much of a return, I think we could be better off keeping Santander. Thoughts?
  10. Not a great day for sure. Just felt to me like we played without a lot of excitement which is strange. We’re not out of this, but we really need to win the next 2. 1 game behind my projection at this point.
  11. Was hoping to get a game above the pace I set, but we couldn’t do it today. Still - we’re on my pace to get to 88 wins.
  12. The “Adley problem”? Seriously?
  13. Loved how he handled 2 lefties tonight. I know it’s where he has struggled, but especially liked how he took his 3rd AB and went the other way with a pitch over the outer edge. This kid looks good - really good. Very mature for his age.
  14. I like what I e seen from Bradish and Kremer, but I think we should “hope” they can fill out the back end of the rotation. Wells looks to be ahead of them. G-Rod and a few FA acquisitions and we should have a good number of starters to choose from. One of the things I would like to start seeing next year is a smaller number of starters throughout the year. If we have a 5-man rotation let’s try to get them each 25+ starts. We can do this by building depth and competition.
  15. 17 of our next 22 at home; 20 of our final 32 at home. I don’t think it’s out of the question that we could get to 88 wins which “should” get us a wildcard spot. My thinking: Oakland - win 2/3 Toronto - win 3/4 Boston - win 2/3 @ Washington - win 2/2 @ Toronto - win 1/3 Detroit - win 2/3 Houston - win 2/4 @ Boston - win 2/4 @ NY - win 1/3 Toronto - win 2/3 remainder - 19-13 Overall - 88-74 Thoughts?
  16. Again, I continue to hope they prove me wrong from my original post!
  17. Completely remarkable. And now 17 of our next 22 at home. This is where we have to do it. I think we need to be be solidly in a wildcard position coming out of this stretch. Let’s do a 15-7 or something even better. That should put us in a good position.
  18. Hard to argue it though as he was the consensus #1 that year. It’s not like it was a reach. Plus, with what I’ve seen from Adley, I actually love his catching presence on the field and in the lineup.
  19. Amen! I certainly don’t think the Jorge Lopez trade is “killing” the Orioles.
  20. My goodness! I’ll take Kremer’s performance last night whether he had 0 k’s or 20 K’s. He’s learning how to “pitch” and did extremely well against the best team in the AL! Kremer flashes enough quality stuff to get K’s, but if you look at many 1st to 2nd year stats of young pitchers who eventually become dominant, their early K rate is low (Verlander 6k/9 his 1st full season; Garrit Cole 7.7/9 his rookie season). When GRod makes it to the bigs, his K rate will likely be down as well. My biggest point is - just enjoy the QS and don’t read too much into the peripherals yet. Hopefully these young guys string several QS together!
  21. I agree with this. I still wouldn’t be surprised to see Mountcastle go as well which could open the door for a bigger FA signing. It’s hard to win with all homegrown talent. I look at the Orioles of the mid-90s and while they had guys like Brady, Ripken, Mussina, Rhodes, they also had Palmeiro and Alomar. We like our homegrown guys because they’re ours, but to win a WS, we need some very talented FAs.
