  1. This is exciting news. Looking forward to seeing how these guys do and I'm happy to see Elias being aggressive with promotions. 2023 should be really interesting. Lots of guys knocking on the door.
  2. Gotta wonder how many passed balls turned into runs with Severino behind the plate. It's probably not a huge amount, but every little bit counts.
  3. Word, good research. Fangraphs, I'm assuming? Yep, it's all still a small sample size but at least things are trending in the right direction for him.
  4. I dunno, IIRC 65% is pretty good and not so negligible from 60%. What I want to know is if he's getting ahead in the count more often. I don't believe all strikes are created equal. So while SG shows that stat, overall I believe that information to be good. But no one can convince me that a first pitch strike has less value than a 3-0 strike. It can't possibly be the same value because batting averages, on base percentages and slugging percentages vary throughout the at bat depending on the pitch count. So while his strike percentage is up, I'm assuming that has to mean he's getting ahead in more at bats and not having to throw a "get me over" fastball on 3-0 or 3-1.
  5. Jokes aside, IMO, how long this can last is going to be a measure of how well this bullpen can hold up. You're right, by now it's usually taxed and worn out. I'm too lazy to check the numbers but I do believe our starters, while not spectacular, have been giving us slightly more and better innings this year than they have in the previous year or two. The coaching staff deserves some of the credit, but Elias does, too. Betting on a guy like Cionel Perez and trying to determine if he'd be receptive to the coaching is a lot of work. It's a team effort for sure and, IMO, not any one specific party should get the majority of the credit.
  6. Remains to be seen if this is legit or if this is just a hot streak. Regardless, I'm enjoying watching them play lately. Starting pitching is leaving a lot to be desired but the bullpen is duck p**** tight and the offense is doing pretty well.
  7. 1 out of 3 today with a double and a walk. His double was roped pretty good. Defense behind the plate seems to be great, too. No passed balls, etc.
  8. Lol, Sports Guy running the warehouse?
  9. I bet Rougie could have a .380 OBP if he laid off shoulder high fastballs. If I were pitching to him, I wouldn't throw him anything else.
  10. What a fun player to watch. I know he’s not a long term answer but I almost wish he was.
  11. That follow through jump thing he does at the end of his swing looks so f’ing cool. I’m here to eat crow. I was hard on him in the past but he’s a great ballplayer.
  12. I dunno what it was about it, I just didn't care for it. This was a really long time ago, Griffey Jr was on the Reds, Prince Fielder was on the Brewers. I think the thing that I remembered most is that every square inch of the place seemed to have advertisements on it. I mean, it certainly wasn't a dump, it just wasn't nice.
  13. A's, Tampa. Comiskey. I'm kinda with Frobby though, I'd go to them just to say I went and saw a game but these three are low on my list. I was fairly unimpressed with Great American Ballpark when I went.
  14. That is true, he's not walking nearly as many as he used to.
  15. Seems like everything he’s hitting lately has been drilled. He’s an XBH machine, too.
  16. Not striking out enough guys.
  17. https://www.mlb.com/news/mlb-mock-draft-june-22-2022 That interview with Termarr Johnson...I can see Elias picking this guy if he's as big of a baseball rat/gym rat as he says he is.
  18. Well the Euros just tone it down a bit better and know their place. If you get my drift.
  19. Well I'm sure the european players from the NBA don't have that mentality. Maybe we should try to find european baseball talent if we want to stay clear of the "flashy" types.
  20. Hopefully that puts him on the map for ASG consideration. He won't get there through fan voting but hopefully the manager picks him. IMO, he's our most deserving player.
