  1. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/gl.fcgi?id=flaheja01&t=p&year=2023#111-122-sum:pitching_gamelogs Stats since 5/15. He had a rough start to beginning of year and a 10 ER stinker. The BABIP suggest he’s been a bit unlucky. In that span he has given up 25 xbh in 274 ABs. That’s impressive. He’s an upgrade over our bottom 3 SPs. Slots 3rd into rotation. Not sexy but don’t see how anyone can not like the move. The FO is confident on their guys ability to address the pen. Wish we got a closer type, but we might also have lightening in a bottle with Hall out of the pen. If Hall doesn’t work out, we have other options and 2 months to find out who will be the guys to step up.
  2. Both Kremer & Wells will be pitching out of the pen come playoffs. What’s not to like? Their stuff will play up.
  3. Seriously. Prieto might stick in MLB. He’s a one trick pony and will have to hit substantially. Rom & Showalter are long shots to to make any impact in MLB. Good trade IMO. We got a starter with potential upside. Hall, Wells, Means, Fuji in pen is a substantial upgrade. Imagine this was likely the plan all along for Hall given his set-backs earlier in the year.
  4. Speaking of fatigue, it’ll be interesting how Bautista bounces back from that workload last night. That was a lot.
  5. I think the positive PR alone would justify the move in the short term. Massive attendance boost, national articles, etc. if he kills it, Elias is a god. If he doesn’t, oh well he tried. With that said, it’s a massive gamble and not one I’m sure I’d take. I think the Verlander deadline magic is a once in a career story.
  6. We also do not need 5 starters in the playoffs…one more spot for a shut down arm.
  7. I thought it was darn impressive…..until I saw what the Cardinals did. Now THAT is darn impressive.
  8. And they would have gotten away with it if it weren’t for those meddling kids!
  9. Nolan Ryan has some beef in 1973 as well…..Pretty absurd he didn’t win. Ryan 383 strike outs 2.49 FIP (two no hitters) Palmer 158 strike outs 3.38 FIP Can someone explain that to me?
  10. Finally a Mystery Team!!! It’s not a trade deadline without a mystery team.
  11. The HR/9 is a little frightening for a high leverage receiver. I’d like Wells as long man in the bullpen for the playoffs.
  12. Seems clear to me. It says “nothing”. That means absolutely zero trade and we roll with the roster as is.
  13. I’d be perfectly happy with a playoff rotation of GRod, Bradish, Means (assuming health and performance). The bullpen needs to be addressed and I don’t think Kremer/Wells are the answer. They’d be great as long man if a starter gets blown up, but that’s about it. Replace Gibson with a bonafide bullpen guy.
  14. I actually believe that is more or less the plan. Playoffs are a heck of a time to earn your wings, though. Means has health question and Povich has serious command questions. Hall and McDermott are the wild cards. I think they’ll get their auditions in a few weeks to have a chance at the playoff roster. I’d like them (or someone) to replace/upgrade Perez & Baker.
  15. I wholeheartedly support darn near everything this FO does, but doing “nothing” means “nothing”. Doesn’t mean make a small move for a guy we’ve never heard of. They have a legit chance at a WS this year. Theoretically we will have that chance next year, but you never know what the future holds. Gunnar, Adley, GRod, et al could get injured and we could flounder to a .500 record next year. They have prospect capital and frankly are running out of space to hoard players. They need to make a move to improve the team for a shot at the WS. There is a large chunk of the year left and we’ve been extremely Lucky with injuries. The roster needs to be supplemented a bit for a better % chance at a WS ring.
  16. Yes. The relief pitching needs to be improved. The system is overflowing with prospects, we are about to run out of space for folks to play, and we are two months away from potential home field advantage in the playoffs. I’m not advocating for a blockbuster mega move, but the pitching absolutely needs to be bolstered and not doing so would be a failure. The team is set up to compete over 162 but ,as currently rostered, is not set up for playoff baseball IMO.
  17. That’s where I am. I think some folks are going to be really disappointed . Hope I’m wrong.
  18. This site is going to crash at 6pm tomorrow when we stand pat.
  19. I’d give him a fair 2 year deal now. I think he’s gonna go off in the spotlight and get pricey.
  20. I’ve been thinking about this for a while now. Only wrench in the plan is Holiday being a freak show. Almost makes you wonder if he gets a little seasoning this year and starts next year on opening day roster. RoY #1 & #2 next year would be something. Has that ever happened before? The ultimate farm system flex
  21. Gunnar is getting his # retired before Mussina
