Couldn’t disagree more. Springer is beyond lost and has the Chris Davis face going on right now. He flared a bloop into CF. What’s ridiculous is to put a guy with 5 walks over the last 6.2 in the game with two men on base.

Throwing 100 & hitting spots. He was overly careful (as he should be) against the two best bats in the lineup. One of which was a 9 pitch battle. He didn’t walk two guys in 8 pitches. He was incredibly careful know a guy was 1 for 36 was sitting on deck. He was performing admirably.

I guess by that standard Babe Ruth was just so so because hitting HRs then wasn’t a “priority.” Laughable? No need to be condescending or rude. When I’m looking at a P I’m looking at what a P can control. They can control walks & strikeouts. That’s it. How their team fared once the ball is in play is mostly irrelevant to me.

I agree. Taking him out before bot 7 would have been ideal. I don’t see any good arguments to putting Fuji in that situation when Grayson was performing as he was.

He has walked 5 batters in 6.2 IP since the trade. Not the guy I want out there in a jam.

Can’t get through 6 if you don’t give him the chance. Belt had his number all night and Vladdy is Vladdy. He pitched them carefully, got to the easy out and was promptly pulled. Absurd.

Ortiz went 5 for 7 today……Mateo went 0 for 2. It’s unfortunate we didn’t DFA to trade before the deadline. Now we will get nothing for him. It’s time to cut bait.

He didn’t just lose his command all of the sudden or look fatigued. It was a pitch around 9 pitch battle of an AB.

Mussina was better than Palmer IMO. I don’t thinks it’s even really close. Palmers lack of Ks would have been roasted in the steroid era while pitching in OPACY. Mussina averaged 1 less BB/9 and 2 more k/9 for his career. That’s significant. I also think it’s classy he went in to hall with a blank cap. His career was split basically down the middle and had great season with both teams. Some folks let their emotions cloud their judgment. With all that said, no statue & no number retired is the right decision IMO.

He should never have been put in that situation. Ridiculous. He isn’t a guy to go to in a jam. He needs a clean inning to work out his control. He’s going to walk one guy darn near every inning.

How in Gods name do you take out Grayson, after a fantastic night, with a 1 for 35 Springer up. You bring in a guy with control problems and two men on base?!?!? Ridiculous. ECU was by far my favorite place to play when I was in school. Incredible environment. I will always pull for Pirates in the league. I’m a massive Norby fan, been watching him play for years. Was hoping Os we’re gonna snag Moylan.

I think Norby & Ortiz simply replace Mateo & Frazier and they rotate Gunnar, Ortiz, Westburg, & Norby like they’ve done since Westburg got called up. Urias likely gets traded IMO. Good value for a trade and starting to get a little expensive.

I watched him tonight. Charlotte kinda stinks, not a lot of bats in the lineup. He’s kinda wild in the zone but people just don’t square him up at all. A lot of soft contact. 53 of 87 for 60% strikes giving up 1 hit 2BB and 7 ks over 6 innings.

5 for 7 on the day in the double header. Batting .358. Let’s stop simply calling this guy a slick fielder. Dude flat out rakes. He’s not peppering the ball around the field either. Hit his 22nd double of the year - have a chance to overtake Norby for doubles on the season with quite a bit fewer ABs.

I see Tony going to 1B. Mayo has work to do at AAA and will likely get a full year there next year. Mountcastle is likely to get the Renato Nuñez treatment and I doubt O’Hearn has a place on the team either. Imagine Hays is starting LF and Cowser is 4th OF until he shows he is ready for full time ABs.
