Ortiz is out hitting Holiday by .010 points in a more difficult league. You could make an argument that Ortiz is outperforming Holiday this year all things considered. And that doesn’t diminish a thing that JH has done.

He had back issues. Apparently hurt himself in gym before/during ST. He started his Jan/Feb work in ~April.

First inning: 2Ks & a ground ball out. hard fast balls and a nasty slider. No one is catching up with the fastballs. Lot of weak swings. Second inning: 3-0 to a k on first batter. Blew first batter away with FB. No mph readings tonight 2-0 to 2-2 then a soft liner to RF. FB looks pretty strong. A lot of swing and miss/weak contact. Struck out 3rd batter on a FB. Struck out 4th batter. A lot of strikes. Complete domination. Will him come out for a third? Edit: Nope he’s done. One of the most dominant pitching performances I’ve seen in a while. I think he’s fixed lol.

Hall is in. Let’s see what’s he’s got.

I was hoping to see him pitch today in the DH but I still don’t see him listed on the roster. Wonder when he will get into a game finally.

I didn’t realize he would be back so soon. I was thinking he’d be back towards middle/end of the month. This is a pleasant surprise.

5 Ks through 4ip so far. Tall guy looks taller than 6’2”. Looks like he’s bringing it pretty good and has some good secondaries. Gave up a dinger after falling behind. A little wild, but the stuff looks pretty solid. Havnt heard any radar readings.

Of course he gets a hit in his first AB after a week out.

He’s had back issues throughout his pro career. Some other injuries have popped up as well.

It happens every year with him. Wish the man the best, but the body doesn’t hold up. He’s a gamer, just don’t think it’s in the cards.

Until he can sustain an > .800 OPS for a significant amount of time, I’m going to be wary. I’ve been premature excited on his hot streaks in the past. He swung at more than a few pitches 8”+ out of the zone that made me nervous. With that said He blisters the ball when he’s going good. I hope he can keep it up.
