    Cade Povich 2023

Do you think he will be ready to contribute in the second half next year?
  2. As far as I’m concerned Showalter owes us something.
  3. He is a big dude when you see him up close. He will get bigger. He has elite bat speed & he will hit his fair share or HR. If Frazier can knock 12+ playing in OPACY, Holiday is good for 25. A good amount of his HR this year are to opposite field. I’m not worried at all about Holidays power.
  4. Bradish’s last 162 games, after struggling mightily, makes me giddy for what GRod will be doing this time next year. We likely have a two headed monster in house. Go get me some shut down bullpen arms please
  5. I watched his last game. He has a funky motion. Looks like a small dude on TV. He will throw 3 pitches nowhere near the zone then come back and K the batter. It looks like he gets really good movement and the delivery has some deception. Last game broadcast had him 91-93 with the FB.
  6. One of my favorites Os ever. I have not been impressed. He coaches an 11U team PG tourney team & helps at IMG academy. Imagine he’s just here for a few weeks in the summer.
  7. I like the idea of this thread and think it will be fun to follow and see how all our rookies stacked up at the end of the year. The OP was a bit overly simplistic and it’s hard to draw any conclusions. Gunnar and Cano have been given the longest runs. We saw Gunnar take a while to get acclimated. I imagine Cowser & Westburg struggle a bit for the next 4-6 weeks. I think they will both start to put it together by the end of September. Ortiz & Stowers likely don’t get much run this year. Lester is an afterthought. I imagine GRod will finish the year on a high note. It will be fun to come back and look at this at the end of the year.
  8. Palmer talks about it all the time. Every single time we play in Boston he mentions how Fenway plays different than the rest of the stadiums (due to height) and OFers have to get used to that field.
  9. Balls are hit harder and stadiums play completely differently. It’s fairly well documented OFers often take a little time to adjust.
  10. Melanie Newman will have a field day with that name.
  11. Dang. That’s unfortunate. Hopefully just banged up a bit and nothing serious.

    Stowers 2023

Oppo big fly for Stowers. He really does generate some easy power to all fields.
  13. Fair enough. It’s going to be a fun couple of weeks.
  14. It is weaker than Mullins. Reminds me of when Cedric came into the league. Imagine he will be tested and he will need to find a way to counter people running on him.
  15. It seems like a pretty Raysian move to me. I’ve thought all along they’d be a sleeper. Hearing their owner has given the go ahead would be exciting to me if I were a Rays fan. They have the dev system and prospect capital to not miss a beat. They’ve been knocking at the door. Ohtani could be the final piece.
  16. Imagine that Ohtani & Arrozarena on a playoff team would be much watch TV. Stupid Angelos’ I can’t even fathom what it would be like to read that tweet as a fan. Exciting times for Tampa.
  17. Hard to keep him down after the last few outings. He did what he needed to do down there. Now he needs to take the next step.
  18. My wife took my son and some of his friends yesterday. Didn’t get the Holiday signature but had fun nonetheless. Pretty brutal unis. I heard the circus “talent” was questionable at best Lol.
  19. It’s not just high stress innings, it’s high stress pitches. They know how much force he’s exerting on his joints on every throw & they know how many on any given day are out of the normal range. They are monitoring his chronic load and acute load and trying to keep him in his safe zone. What he has done the last few days, weeks, months, and years all go into the calculus. I think they’re done a pretty solid job of keeping pitchers healthy.
  20. It’s just semantics. They are trying to avoid stress on the arm. Pitching less can help that. “Innings” aren’t really quantifiable as it relates to “stressed throws”. An inning with 20 low stress pitches is way different than and inning with 8 high stress pitches. Therefore going off an arbitrary “innings” count doesn’t do anyone any good. They are analyzing how many high torque pitches (outside of his avg torque per pitch) he is throwing on the year and trying to minimize those. So, he’s on an innings limit….but he isn’t
  21. I’m holding out hope that’s the new normal. The talent is there - once he gets the confidence and believes, watch out.
  22. Quad again. No bueno. He needs to get that sorted. We need him.
  23. I think that’s a fair question. But at this stage of the game winning the WS becomes a gamble that can increase his profits and fortunes long term. With all the savings to date, there has to be a little something in the coffers for a rainy day gamblers lottery ticket. I havnt looked at the economics of making playoffs or even winning WS, but I imagine the cash/investment influx is substantial.
