  1. Hope to god it's O'Hearn. I thought that's why we paid him the big bucks was to shuffle a solid back-up between AAA and MLB as needed.
  2. I’d argue this is just the tip of the ice-berg. They only started to participate in the International market 3 years ago. They are building a state of the art facility to further enhance that part of the system that has had no part in the current crop. Sure, we won’t have a 1-1 pick anytime soon but this admin has shown their ability to draft and develop from all rounds of the draft. As Basallo and a few of the other 2019 J2 guys are showing, once established and furnished with an attractive facility the international pipeline will begin to pump in the next two years. I’d go out on a limb and say the system in 3 years from now will likely be stronger than it is right now.
  3. Good info everyone! I was thinking about a west coast trip to visit my brother and some friends in the LA/SD area this summer and all the comments have been super helpful.
  4. You know they have that data in real time so just highlights that they fell asleep at the wheel and/or just hung him out to dry.
  5. Willems emergence might be the story of the year so far. Great to see. He is an easy guy to pull for.
  6. He’s had 7 multi hit games since 4/11. A couple 3 hit nights and a 4 hit night. 30 for his last 64 in that span. .468 avg.
  7. Think it was a Hail Mary for a 3-0 game after 7 with a chance for a come back and 7ip covered by a SP.
  8. Stowers must have been caught with someone’s wife.
  9. That grouping will be in AA by end of year (if they perform consistently at an high level)and pushing AAA the following year. The players in AAA this year will be in MLB next year (for us or someone else). I don’t see any log jam. I see talented players steadily moving up the line. We have been incredibly lucky to avoid injuries this year AND last year. I doubt that continues.
  10. McKenna should never PH for anyone. Problem is he can’t hit.
  11. Halfway through the game (well 5/9ths) and everyone has a hit!
  12. The log jam stops at Norfolk. 6 of our top 8 prospects are in Norfolk. Mayo & Prieto in AA IF and Kjerstad in OF. Not a ton of talent/prospects there. A+ is similar. The depth they have at AAA is fantastic. Injuries will occur, players will not perform, and a trade will be made. I don’t see a “systemic logjam” and oh, by the way - sign me up for such a well of talent.
  13. Whoever was pelting Wells with seeds during his interview is my hero. So good
  14. Been pulling for the kid but early returns are pretty minimal. Had a 4 hit game in first week and has had 4 hits in all the other games combined. He does have more BBS than Ks and a .400 OBP, though.
  15. Handley hasn’t looked very good to start off season. He’s right at his MiLB career numbers & D hasn’t been stellar. Wonder if they are throwing up the white flag on Maverick as 2024 back-up and moving on.
  16. I think he believes in himself a little too much. He must have off-the-charts vision. His ability to recognize pitches & locations is really darn near second to none and he’s only 21. Once he starts tattooing a couple mistakes, pitchers are going to get even more precise/conscious of his abilities and make more mistakes/miss more often. It’s just a patience game with this guy. He’s going to go off. The LHP issues are a little concerning but I’m willing to give home a little lead way. I don’t think he needs to be sent down or suggest he ought to, but if he were I’d be OK because he’d be replaced with Westburg or Ortiz and I believe in all their abilities. I think we look back at this at end of the year as a blip on the radar & Gunnar, Westburg, & Ortiz have all made significant contributions.
  17. Not sure about the future but there are darn important to the present.
  18. Slider/cuter/sinker that doesn’t move is a BP fastball. I bet if you watch next few starts it will be a different pattern. The individual matchups, individual tendencies, & your previous few weeks start’s patterns dictate the pitching cadence on any given night.
  19. They've been doing it since spring training. It's hilarious. Single turn on the water spigot, double sprinkler, HR drink from hose. Not sure if they have something for a 3b. It's all my youth team talks about and tries to imitate lol
