  1. Absolutely not. No. He was acquired to perform in the role where he currently is.
  2. Update - over 114,000 fans came to watch this last 3 game series with the NYY. So no i don't think the stadium is "too big" for our team.
  3. Just a reminder that Elias did say that if we make additions before the deadline he would bet heavily that it would be pitching. Obviously stuff can change. But that is still where I'm at.
  4. Im sure the paid attendance was much better than it appeared last night. There was a 2.5 hour rain delay. The attendance will be great tonight and tomorrow as well.
  5. Check out the crowds on opening day......prime weekend series.....or our playoff games from 2012 to 2014. People seem to find a way to show up for stuff like that. Attendance will keep going up as we improve.
  6. I think he gets the Gunnar treatment as well. And no they probably won't give him consistent playing time and a ton of AB....cuz a big part of our long term sustainment plan is to keep our best stud prospects eligible for rookie of the year the following year.
  7. Makes sense. As long as he is pitching well he has a spot in the rotation. If he implodes again then no.
  8. We all hope we are going to follow the Astros model. Unfortunately we have more recent information coming directly from ownership. https://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/orioles/bs-sp-orioles-john-angelos-next-tampa-rays-astros-20230222-bv6efmtr2zdgtnaktropjm7e4u-story.html Our owner has said he hopes we are the next Tampa. Or Cleveland. Or Milwaukee. Now what to do those teams all have in common? Let's be generous and say they all tend to be in the lower half of team salaries. Also, the Brewers and Rays have never won a WS and the Guardians have one of the longest championship droughts in sports. I wish someone had followed up with him on that in that interview. Not trying to throw cold water on everyone's parade but I think it's important we all work from the same shared set of facts. I wish it was different. But until we see evidence to the contrary I think it's important we take these words from Angelos seriously.
  9. My thoughts on a deep playoff run are that I would be very much in favor of it.
  10. Compared to the teams we are competing with (looking especially at you, NYY) the O's have been incredibly fortunate with injuries. While I think wildcard's take is pretty far in the clouds, I do think it might be worth exploring our good 'fortune' from a different angle. I wonder if Elias / Sig and crew may have figured a way to minimize injuries a bit...at least for pitchers. Melewski's piece the other day about how pitchers rarely go over 100 pitches anymore got me thinking on that a bit. Hyde does pull the plug pretty quickly on starters. We complain about how much it overexposes the bullpen....but maybe it has really benefited the health of the starters?
  11. Yeah we are currently on a 5 game winning streak.
  12. Well Angelos did say he would "love" for a deal to get done during the all star break. Technically that could still happen! Let's ask Dan Connolly to go follow up with him.............
  13. I think if Seattle had a new player coming up that somehow acquired the nickname "The Ironman" people here would be pretty miffed/offended. And rightfully so. Let our Felix have his own nickname. Just my .02.
  14. Agree with Tony. Zero chance Holliday is on opening day roster 2024. I don't think he will get to Norfolk until 2024. Would love to be wrong of course.
  15. The player we drafted at 1:17 is named Enrique Bradfield Jr. The OP says Edwin Bradford.
  16. Bold prediction time! I predict Joey Ortiz is no longer in the Orioles organization after August 1 of this year. I think that is the best explanation for how things have played out thus far in 2023.
  17. How badly do you want some cash considerations? what if they throw in a PTBNL?
  18. Elias will keep doing his thing which as far as I can tell means don't take pitching early. But we will see.
  19. 3 catchers is so clutch! It's like playing with a smaller roster than your opponent just for fun and enjoying the extra challenge!
  20. Hoping for a Happy Monday. Not expecting one. But i think we will have one soon.
  21. Rep given just for the thread title alone. Nicely done.
  22. .632 OPS in June so far with one game to go. Not great Bob. And before everyone jumps on workload as an excuse (not saying it's not a factor completely), he is on track for 22 games played this month as opposed to a minimum of 27 in previous months. Hoping this is just a "pitchers are adjusting, now he needs to counter adjust" kinda thing.
  23. i'm a little confused. I agree he is likely to go to Bowie after the All Star break. You are aware that there is another level between AA and MLB right? Or are you suggesting Elias will have him skip Norfolk completely? I think that is incredibly, incredibly unlikely.
