I wasn't suggesting it was a likelihood just that an absolute benching might cause him to reconsider. Honestly we don't even know if ownership would be on board with a buyout. I guess we are different folks, I'd take the money and go try something else rather then drag everyone else down.

If you were to say to me, Can, I'll pay you 38M to retire at 34. Or you can get 46M and spend two years dealing with the physical and emotional pressures of sitting at the end of the bench. If it were me, I'd take the 38M and be done with it. Especially if I'd already earned more than 140M. Players have accepted buyouts before, heck some have walked away leaving money on the table.

I hope Hyde actually sits him for the rest of the season. Maybe it will cause Davis to reconsider a buyout. I'm worried Hyde won't have the gumption to not play him at all.

I think having him apologize counts as throwing him under the bus. I think he was worried his old buddies with the Rangers would be upset with him. I also have no idea why he was so blase about Machado being thrown at. I have to wonder if it had been someone other than Machado if the Umps would have ejected the pitcher.
