  1. I'm comparing him to someone that wasn't athletic enough to play outfield for Notre Dame.
  2. Because he was talented enough to stick at short for a few years as a professional. Not like average in left is a high bar.
  3. Thank goodness we have Smith in at DH instead of Sisco. I didn't have anything planned to complain about.
  4. I would just like to say that the 2020 Red Sox might have the worst pitchng in their franchise history. And this guy couldn't stick.
  5. If it means less Dwight Smith Jr I'm on board. I also think his ceiling is higher than Mancini's. Mostly because we know how poor an outfielder Mancini is, Mountcastle has a chance to end up average out there. Him not being able to stick at short or third really isn't a reason to discount his chances of playing left.
  6. I think it can go all the way from a plus bat with average defense in left to a bust. The walk rate is disconcerting. If his ability to barrel pitches doesn't translate to the majors he isn't going to have much of a career.
  7. We are now. ? I'm also guessing, and I could be wrong here, that none of those players had a full season at AAA.
  8. I'm going to add Bart to my list when folks start talking about why Elias is right for not promoting AR.
  9. No it isn't. Your point is based off of Nunez being someone with a career OBP of 314 and a career OPS+ of 103. He's a DH. You don't block a fringe top 100 prospect for those numbers.
  10. Nunez has a career OBP of 314. I'm going to weigh ~900 ab more than I am the most recent 88.
  11. Fielder was injured. Not the same thing at all.
  12. Bob Uecker managed a .581 OPS over his career, 843 PA. So yea, Davis has been on the level of a backup catcher who is better known as both an announcer and comedian.
  13. In which case Elias has really mishandled this.
  14. What are you going to get for him? I'm guessing you won't get equal value.
  15. Yes but his skill set is redundant when the O's have Dwight Smith on the team.
  16. Profar and Tatis have started doing a baby crying HR celebration.
  17. I think it has a lot more to do with the caliber of the pitching the O's have had and less to do with the color of the uniform.
  18. Do you think player success against a team is a repeatable skill?
  19. I think they can do both, I think they can play the young guys and still lose.
  20. As is the media not putting Elias' feet to the fire over the issue. Local Reporter (LC) Why hasn't Mountcastle been called up? Elias- He's uhh working on stuff. LC- OK then next question.
  21. They seem to be trying really hard to keep Mountcastle out of the majors.
  22. One would think but how many athletes have we seen try and hang on well past the time they should have hanged it up? Heck Bedard pitched in A ball at 36 and I don't even think he liked baseball.
