  1. Sure. The only way a guy wouldn't would be if accepting the QO made him a 10/5 guy.
  2. Why was O'Hearn swinging at that? Not that Mountcastle was any better but I don't expect different from him.
  3. Good point, and Frazier does suck on defense.
  4. Yep, not even bothering to try and hide it.
  5. I said I get the feeling. It seems like an over hyped place. I didn't state it as a fact. In my experience hyped up seafood restaurants tend to be disappointments.
  6. Never been to Jimmy's I get the feeling that it's hugely overrated.
  7. That wasn't what I meant by early Devo but it's not bad. VERY NSFW.
  8. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/b/brachbr01.shtml 14-18
  9. I'm a fan of early Devo, their more recent work isn't as strong.
  10. That's why you bleed them even more. If they trade him to the Rangers for a lesser package and he signs with the Dodgers anyway how is that better?
  11. I'll take Barney over this freak.
  12. I read that Angels ownership won't OK a trade to the Dodgers. Shades of Peter.
  13. Have you seen his "little" brother?
  14. They don't. That changed a couple of CBA ago. Any team trading for Ohtani will not be able to hit him with a QO.
  15. And that's pretty much every year. It's the main reason I question the concept of just trading off the excess bats for pitching.
  16. Spray chart for 2023 is available. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/ryan-o-hearn-656811?stats=statcast-r-hitting-mlb
  17. You give them as much rope as you can spare and then send them off to a team that is willing to give them a further opportunity. Eventually they will either improve or run out of chances.
  18. I was providing a data point. That's it. I didn't make any claims, just passing along information.
  19. You do know that even "Veteran big leaguers" can and often do show wild variances in performance from one year to the other right? Cal's a great example since he had so many seasons at 161-162 games. His rWAR dropped by 7.4 between 1991-1992. If you want to say it was because he was over 30 he dropped 10.0 to 5.6 from 1984-1985. Lots of guys just have a random down year or career years that they never get close to again.
  20. I just wanted to call myself crotchety.
  21. Buck has commented on the second deck being an adjustment.
  22. I know I'm crotchety but I don't even care for that one.
