  1. I've been as vocal supporting Povich as anyone without Husker in their handle. But no way does Elias promote him within the next few turns. I suspect he'll get at least 50 IP in AAA before being considered. Bradish and Means' health/effectiveness are X factors. We should know more in May/early June. Povich may be an option after that point.
  2. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/player-scroll/game?gamePk=752709&player_id=700249#power_sets Mixed in his 5 pitches well. Worked up/down and in/out. 20 MPH gap makes it tough on hitters. Babip against (.111) and strand rate (92%) aren't sustainable.
  3. The last time Britt was on Rates and Barrells, they talked about having starters go 6 IP (maybe 7) or lose the DH as an incentive. I don't think that will fly but that's the type of incentive that will push against the max velo/spin.
  4. Sometimes we need to tip our hat to the other team. We weren't hitting or pitching. They were. People under-estimate Peralta as "just" a 5 and diver. MIL is a good team. Ortiz looks like he could be an answer to one of their holes. Chourio having a ROY start. And Yelich is a competitor. Hoskins > Tellez. Other than the long-term decision of cashing out on Burnes, they made some good moves this off-season.
  5. Jansen's a mixed bag too. That twitchy start to his pitching motion should either be a balk or considered part of his windup (and fair game for a huge jump on the bases). Bello and Crawford are pretty good. Whitlock is solid.
  6. We were hitting the ball hard last night. Even early. Just took time for them to fall in. Grayson did good for not having his A game too. I'm confident he wouldn't have given up any runs in OPACY. Those off the wall would be outs. The pop-up in RF would have been seen... BoSox rotation and some RPs are under-the-radar good too.
  7. Does this account for early season game averages from 2023? If not, I wouldn't be shocked if attendance is up in general around the league at year end.
  8. That's been my impression of him too from the MiLB times I've seen him. He seems a bit more shy/aloof. Not the center of attention extrovert type like the crew ahead of him (Adley, Westburg, Cowser, evem Hunnar). Nothing wrong with it either. One can hope it means he won't seek out a large market team... Though the relational dynamics in the minors that can be a bit more 'stars' and 'scrubs' if that's how one views things...
  9. Agreed. We're on the same page. BoSox pitchers made some really good pitches early in counts to get ahead. Holliday had some really good takes after getting behind. Others have posted and McDonald said it a few times, Boston is leading the charge of countering the FB hunting trend. Holliday had some quality PAs all things considered.
  10. Came to say this too. He doesn't have to throw them hard, but pushed throws can get wild. I liked his hustle getting down the line on the pop-up, but would have liked to have seen a better attempt at the catch. It would have been a tough play regardless. Some good takes at the plate last night. Would have liked to see him more aggressive swinging earlier in the count, but he knows what he's doing more than I do.
  11. I want to know the full story on this. How much did Boras play agent for his company over his clients?
  12. Zac Gallen is the Milkman already.
  13. A few hard hits and loud contact that inning.
  14. Touĝh luck.... Everything would have been outs in OPACY.
  15. Red Sox playing the R/L game too.
  16. I guess it's a good low/mid-level litmus test for the "tough lefty" scale I suppose.
  17. Will it be Holliday or Mateo?
  18. My bad. This was about Irvin, not Means...
  19. PSA: 90-92 MPH is pretty normal even for good LHP. Plenty of things to point to in his profile with concern, but I don't think that's the red flag people think it is. The 4S has been hit hard in the 28 times he has throw it though. A little worse run value than the CH. Career worse K% and BB% has led to a bad WHIP too.
  20. Poor wording on my part. Just happened to be there... Last time I was there was 20 years ago. They have a ton of Marijuana places around there now mixed with the bars. Mixing suds and buds is a dangerous combo.
  21. Do you mean lack of OPS? Because he's squaring up the ball fairly well. A lot of red on the Savamt dashboard.
  22. I stumbled into his debut at Fenway last year. He's an athlete for sure. A little uptick offensively and he'll add a ton of value. Kudos to him!
