  1. A Rule 5 guy at SS fits their immediate goals of the rebuild. People mocking the Marlins is misplaced. Jeter’s stated goal was to shed salary. He’s done that. I remember the Astros came out and told their fan base their intentions. The Orioles are on the right path regardless of the hand wringing by some.
  2. If you talked to any of the players or management for that matter, you’d be hard pressed to find a single voice claiming failure is their immediate goal.
  3. I don’t agree with FV 40 hit tool. He’s got a body to grow into and barrels a lot of balls with high exit velocity.
  4. Not sure if y’all are serious but he has it all. Mayo: Had Witt been in the 2018 class, many thought he would be at or near the top of the first round. He'll get his chance a year from now. The Texas high schooler has five-tool potential with the ability to stay at shortstop long-term. One evaluator put at least a 60 (on the 20-to-80 scale) on all of his tools.
  5. Emblematic of who Nick is. He has perspective.
  6. Dodgers to sign Pollock, four years $55 million.
  7. I know. Again, don’t think it’s a viable option.
  8. There’s only been a couple instances when the Orioles decided to give a player their release. Doubt that’s an option. But I’m dubious there’s a reunion with Markakis.
  9. Very nice kid, very polite. That AB in which he stroked the double was impressive.
  10. His worst defense at SS is better than Beckham’s best. ?
  11. Confused as to why posting a pitching line garners a downvote.
  12. Yeah. What I quoted was a response to the idea that McDowell is the problem. If Castro is the problem, but could be fixed then why is it ok to howl about the pitch coach being fired (and I’m not saying he should be retained)? If people need someone to blame then Martinez seems a likely scapegoat since he’s Castro’s ‘private tutor’.
  13. Maybe Martinez is part of the problem.
  14. His range has always been suspect. I’d take him back if he worked out at 3B. There were scouts going back to AFL that profiled him there.
  15. I mentioned this in a game thread recently. While his arm appears plenty strong enough for 3B, he has a habit of shuffling his feet after fielding to get in better throwing position. It’s led to more than one close play because of it and it’s something he needs to clean up.
  16. So, they got rid of them all just in time?
  17. He’s +6 DRS this year and for his career at 2B. Below average at 3B and well below that at SS. Schoop was slightly above this year and 6 DRS for his career.
  18. I’ll be ticked if he becomes Cy Gausman, but not surprised.
