  1. Thank you, Os, the Os faithful, and Orioles Hangout, for bringing this community together.
  2. But would you say we jeep winning?
  3. It helped Grayson. Will be a good story if Cowser can get right, come back and make an impact.
  4. This team deserves to be able to enjoy some nice weather. Have some laughs, Os. Keep it fun.
  5. Wow, that is strange to read. Good for our Orioles. I often ask friends who are fans of teams who have recently won it all: how has seeing the team they've followed every moment of the season win the championship change their perception of the team's ups and downs in subsequent years. Until this happens for our beloved team, many fans too young to remember 83 (although I suspect 83 is no longer applicable anymore) may fret in ways those other fans do not. For instance, in talking with an Astros fan friend lately, he seemed to scoff somewhat at the hand-wringing I was doing about the series/our bullpen. I suppose seeing a team have regular, sustained success but from a variety of different roster combinations/season ebbs and flows gives those fans the luxury to not stress (as much).
  6. He made that look way easier than it was. Great play.
  7. If he's wearing a mustache, something's not right.
  8. Roy, do you know this for sure? Just curious as I have been highly suspicious the "expected to return Friday" many have reported on was nothing close to "will return".
  9. This year, in the bottom of the 9th, would you rather have Gunnar at SS and Westberg at 2nd or Mateo & Frazier? I'm not sure position versatility has been established with Mateo if lately his defense at SS has been questionable. (edit: added this part-->) Don't get me wrong, if he can play CF in a pinch, I love that -- but he's had a knack for allowing other teams to extend innings late in games and put our bullpen in very precarious positions needing to get a 4th out.
  10. Last year's defensive highlights:
  11. This from March of this year: https://www.thebaltimorebanner.com/sports/orioles-mlb/felix-bautista-orioles-bullpen-pitch-tipping-MZPANC4JHRGONHUIQX34XHDKKM/
  12. I think this is where I am too. I am suspicious of Hicks providing much value from here on out and I really don't want McKenna or Mateo up in a big spot. I suppose by this logic it seems I want Cowser up in a big spot over all these guys and while I see how that seems odd given his performance so far, it might still be true. He could have 7+ weeks to get there. He was on deck after O'Hearn's game-ending called third strike against the Astros Tuesday night. Was really hoping he'd have a chance in that situation for experience.
  13. Few CFs make this play, IMO. With Hayes speed and tracking the flight path he gets to a spot before the wall with just enough time to make it close, but IDK if getting there earlier does anything to help. He would've had to have hoisted his upper body up on top to have the reach beyond the wall to make it possible. Or better yet, have been Devon White.
  14. The last time the Os and Ms played was in late June in Baltimore. Os were outscored 19 to 10 but won the 3-game series after dropping the first one. The Mariners weren't as hot then as they are now -- at that time it was the Reds (our very next series) who had won 12 in a row before the Braves put a stop to their streak. Santander was scorching hot, hitting 5 homers over a 6 game span. Anthony Bemboom contributed with a game-winning hit, and McKenna walked off another game with a homer in extras. With that series' win, the Os were 47-29 and still 4.5 games back of the Rays.
  15. Seattle has been at home since Tuesday and got to enjoy an off day yesterday. Everyone in their bullpen should be available, having not gotten too overworked in their 6-1 win over Padres Wednesday night. Also notable: Tonight is Felix Hernandez night in Seattle. Our own Felix threw 23 pitches (was that all?) so there could potentially be some "King Felix" references thanks to the ASG interaction. Also also notable: Will this be Kevin Brown night for us?
  16. Kinda seems like (in my unscientific roundup): Down: Gunnar: down. Getting on base less and hitting more grounders. Santander: down, for a while O'Hearn: down a little lately but so so good June and July Up: Hayes: up a bit (July was rough) but the double plays this month... Mountcastle: up since his return Adley: up lately (and getting more DH time) McCann: up lately (and catching more) Followed by: Westberg: up a little but kind of a mixed bag Frazier: up a little but, you know... Frazier Urias: up a little overall but maybe last year was his top Mateo: has been down so long Cowser: Well... not up but thought would be nice if he can hang around enough to get up.
  17. FWIW re: Givens - In a Roch post yesterday: re: Tate - from 8/3 re: John Means... he is starting tonight for Baysox.
  18. He doesn't lack enthusiasm. You can see it. He seems to know exactly when to turn it off though, LOL. He's probably had to do that interview 100 times in his life. Nothing to be concerned with. Just an observation.
  19. I don't know if its the kind of thing they'd reflect back on between Monopoly Deal games, but I have faith they paid attention to it. Houston's capacity to extend innings with little hits until it was time to swing with damage in mind is something we haven't seen lately despite playing very good teams.
  20. Exactly. I don't care he's not giving more, and it seems between he, Hendo, Westburg, Cowser they've got the right young chemistry behind closed doors.
