  1. Is there a competitive reason the O’s do not broadcast more ST games, or is steady data still available, regardless? Today’s game is on MASN.
  2. The next man up in the rotation. How often can the O’s say that with this caliber !
  3. Without reading this thread, Austin Hays! A lot of caveats, injury in this case, there is flexibility and competition at every position 3-9 (&DH). Hays should see a little DH if his bat hits the ceiling throughout 2023. 5 bwar predicted, Austin’s best season with the O’s.
  4. I agree, would prefer MASN invest in their product at least some each year and add to their Orioles content for a growing fan base, as the competition window increases.
  5. GRod starting tomorrow and the game will be covered by MASN2, through the Red Socks broadcast. 1:05 PM
  6. Baseball reference usually has the agent in each players bio.
  7. Stated this (not selling the team) in other threads, but what concerns me is holding onto money to save ownership. Would prefer an owner who uses $20m of budget not spent in current years, on the future mlb team’s investments (i.e. we could have gave Bassit $20m+ the next year couple of years, but push that budget into next year). Now it is most likely clear profits need to be hoarded to save the owners, over investing in a championship caliber team. Hope to be proven wrong on this, but the clock has already started ticking and we may continue to be unhappy, each offseason (for key additions) Reverse thoughts on this subject: investments in International spending, their new DR facility, opening up public discussions, all point to a direction that I hope proves my instinct wrong!
  8. Voted yes, because of the talent 2022 represented and made for the first exciting team inseveral years. Any regression or injuries in 2023 will be be offset by breakout seasons, or bounce back seasons from the veterans, IMO. And depth The pitching depth will fill the necessary holes, or traded for higher upgrades. Elias cannot hold onto the mil talent before it becomes a must and need to hit the 40 man roster. Expect a ST trade, or significant trades by this time next year. The next two years will be interesting. If not, then why the X are the O’s talking about liftoff!
  9. D is about right with what was available, but I would give it a B+ compared to the O’s prior offseason
  10. When the O’s win three playoff games from the pitching and offense stepping up! and then more!
  11. Personally, I believe the Owners are pocketing money to hold onto team ownership (and don’t want to sell). This scenario will be pronounced if they stay cheap the next two offseasons. MASN rights might not be as profitable now and that enters into the equation of not spending good money this offseason. The O’s showed up ahead of schedule, as competitors ! Based on the history of this team, they are committed to funding all of the fundamental aspects to a well run organization . Time will tell of these aspects this time next year!
  12. Would like to see the O’s win each season series against each AL East opponent.
  13. And if he doesn’t adjust, it can be a lost year as a contender
  14. I think Elias needs to adjust to the market. Is he being to careful in these early stages of the competition, to avoid making crucial mistakes? not sure on that, but wish we had an example of his SP FA offers. Hoping by this time next year he does some real activity that makes the O’s a true contender.
  15. The market may be dictating this. I’m sure ME has been active and is waiting to pull the strings when the value of return = value given (ish). The O’s are still in the early stages of competition and want to keep adding to the mix. the 40 man roster will be completely different this time next year and the O’s need to make some trades. Do you agree they will or will not?
  16. Elias is a trend setter! Analytics now drive stadium dimensions and their changes. Will MLB step in? Do they even have authority on this! Remember ME talking, within year one as GM, about getting the O’rganization caught up with the analytical times and looking for innovating new one’s. We know he won’t outbid FA, so I’m a little analytically pissed.
  17. Hays is the most underrated player on the team. He is a league average hitter at worst, but has plus hitting. Defensive plus that is good for CF in the short term, plus arm. This guy has the potential to be a 5+ WAR bref player in any given season, maybe a couple in his career. Yet, he’s a drag on the team, from some points of view on this forum. Injuries, inconsistencies, etc. Austin’s MLB career is just over 2 years and he’s already averaging a good hitter for the team. Hope 2023 shows his ceiling as an Oriole!
  18. I have read of Hay’s being platooned, or a 4th OF at best, on this board during the 2022 season. The merit only sticks if another prospect steps up during injury. HBP was a factor to end the year, but I have full confidence his best years are about come (or some brawls happen, or both)
  19. His NJ/US origin likely led to the highest bidder type of situation (not a 12 YO from the DR). The Orioles available spending resources (do I dare say this) are why they picked him. Looking forward to the O’s year 1-current year international message board postings, rather than posit over their new and green market!
  20. Best wishes for Trey - he is going to love hitting Wrigley stands full of fans!
  21. With a high level acquisition before opening day, 95 wins. As it stands, and Hays keeps getting hit by pitches on the hands…72 wins
  22. Based on need Erik Bedard, 2007. Depending on who could be traded this off-season: Tejada (2004), Palmeiro (90s), Sheets (1987), Dwyer, Lynn (87ish), Tettleton(89, and others this year), Milligan (89/90), Williamson (good years ) and Todd Frohwirth just because we need some good anomalies to happen this 2023!
  23. It’s not like you are retired, or anything . I am assuming you are checking the waiver wire for ST reservations and tickets, during this transition…
