  1. I'll go with option C too, was just having a little fun, sorry
  2. So now he should be up based on his ability to hit into a ground ball DP? are you being serious or are you just trolling
  3. Akin is not that good neither is Baumann. Elias is plenty smart enough to know that this BP is less than last year. If he thought the Starters and the offense could carry the BP, so far Hes been right. Yes we need a better BP but at what cost? Lets look at the cost of the backend of last years BP, Bautista, minor league FA agent that the Marlins gave up on (Free). Cano was throw in in the Cade Povich trade(very little) and Coulombe came here for cash cond(almost free) How Bout 2014 Britton, converted failed Starter (2nd round pick), Darren Oday (off waivers, Free) Brad Brach, considered DD best trade, A guy that never played above AA( Free). Givens came the following year (converted SS) The Trade that is generally considered DD worst trade was Andrew Miller, although He did help us win the Detroit series and provided 1.0 WAR that season while costing us ED Rod, who provided Boston with 14 plus war( we got fleeced) be careful about over paying for relievers.
  4. None of our outfielders are on any kind of heater. And that would include Stowers. unless you consider one game a heater. Talk about short sample size he went from OPS of .564 to .915 in one game and one of the doubles was a miss played gift. But I agree, Stowers confidence has got to be at a MLB high. Give him the start tonight with2 of 3 Hayes, Mullins or santander on the bench. I love when this board fusses over Starting Lineups. The team is now good enough that a weaker starting lineup means a stronger bench. who do you want PH in a key late inning AB? A battle tested Vet or a still trying to learn rookie
  5. It sure was. should be a reminder to those that want to swap Norby, Mayo for Urias and Hayes. Many here have become used to our above average to very good to great defense that its taken for granted. Guys (Vets) like Mateo, Mullins Hayes, and even Mountcastle (Urias not so much) are her for a reason. This front office values Defense and its not for free.
  6. miss the combo high OBP and high baseball IQ of players like Rod Carew and Tony Gwynn. not to compare a certain Oriole To The OBP of Gwynn or Carew, But I always loved Ken Singleton and to this day still think he is the most underrated Oriole.
  7. Yes if Holliday did not fall on his ass. His future here was UT infielder and would have filled that role quite nicely. or Westburgh would be in that role. Mateo is place holding at 2nd very well.
  8. Help me with the sweeper? is that a new pitch for him. That might be the best Ive seen Tate ever. Would love more of that going forward. Been really surprised there was not more talk about Tate yesterday
  9. Wow, What are these guys talking about, Angelos awesome in the Mid 80s, He did not own the team until 1992
  10. The sweeper, I don't remember him throwing that. Is that a new pitch for him?
  11. What happened to all the M. Kopech love?
  12. Agree with most of this except Wells, I think he could be a big BP add, if healthy. There are no trade options until July unless Elias finds another Coloumbe off the Heap. Kimbrel? More oy a may option vs October option (maybe first guy out of the pen) and hope im wrong. On a side note, we did not lose to Texas because we did not have Buatista, and Texas did not win Because they had a lockdown BP, more than one way to win. Just saying
  13. an adequate replacement for Bautista? Who might that be?, Mason Miller? Problem there is 10 teams will be looking at him. Who thought Perez was going to be better than Baumann, give it a week or two and you will. Give Coloumbe a couple of bad outings and I guess he does not fit either. Unless there is an answer at Norfolk there are no pen upgrades. Its May, no trades until July. Maybe Wells can get right soon. Relax its a long season for a reason.
  14. And you're probably going to be right. In addition to one of best power bats in the game he can be a great lead off hitter, has great speed, who other than Mateo would you want trying to steal a base, maybe Cedric. This not you're average Orioles team i grew up with that played base to base, Ive followed the Os since 71 and this is the fastest Oriole team Ive seen, Although the 89 team gets a shout.
  15. There is a reason why hes there, its called Elias and Company. If and when the time comes to change they will.
  16. 4 Years 145 Million( little bit higher than Coles average, Would go higher average if some money is deferred) Player Opt out after 2 years, Mutual option of 45 Mil. for year 5. Thats it. Who is are our competition? hes not getting 7 years from the Yankees, they have enough pitching and will set their spending sights on a Soto FA signing, LA has so many big contracts already, Philly too,. Atlanta could definitely be a player.
  17. Well said he only bats lead off once. The lead off Home Runs are partially a product of him batting with nobody on base( pitchers more inclined to challenge) If they adjust the OBP will go up and so will the steals. As far as a fifth AB who else would you want up, plus whoever is PH for our # 8 or 9 has Gunner in front of them.
  18. And who knows?, maybe it is.
  19. Dont like to criticize Hyde, but if Irvin was available today, why not let him start the 7th and possibly complete the game.
  20. Henderson was once again brilliant, O'Hearn with another big time home run, Burnes?, was Burnes. The rest of the day was whipping boy day. Mateo keeps doing what hes been doing, great Defense, the scratch single to right followed by a steal took third on an error which brought us to MCann, down 0-2 he brings in Mateo( not to mention he gives Adley a full day off. 8th inning rally was 3 that have been slumping the worst Cowser( other than the last 2 games) Hayes and Mullins. If Hayes and Mullins start playing like they can you're going to see the non believers come out of the woodwork.
  21. Added a stolen base, had the quiet Hit last night. It all starts somewhere, come on Cedric snap out of it.
  22. Yeah but at least he got a quiet hit this game his first of the year. I know there was a shift in 2020 and he was four years younger and this entire board had left him for dead as prospect, but the quiet hit was a big part of what kick started his career. Just saying.
  23. Cleveland opened Jacobs Field in 1994, had some really good teams thru 2001 and were top 5 attendance 1994 until 2001 including a couple of times leading the league It's been all downhill since, dont think the been in the top 10 in the last 20 years.
  24. Schedule starts to become conducive to increased attendance. You have Seattle the next 2 games(Sat and Sun), then the next 4 home stands( which brings us to All Star break) are as follows, week of Memorial day Boston and Tampa on the weekend, but with the holiday basically 4 weekend dates. Then Atlanta followed by Philly on the weekend, should be the best week of the year so far. Then a 7 game week of Cleveland with a 4 game weekend series against Texas. Finally The Cubs come to town followed by weekend against the Yankees. Should be good.
  25. He can spell Mullins too. Really nice addition if he can get back to playing like Hayes again. Now, if only we can Mullins going.
