CHICAGO -- The Washington Nationals will name Davey Johnson as their new manager, according to a source familiar with the situation.

Johnson, 68, will manage the team for the rest of the season and next season, subject to league approval.

Johnson, who is a special assistant with the Nationals, last managed in the big leagues in 2000 for the Los Angeles Dodgers. He won a World Series in 1986 as the manager of the New York Mets. An official announcement could come as early as Friday night.

I just became a Nationals fan. (And nothing is changing in regards to me as an Orioles fan, I just "idolize" Davey Johnson.)

Me too...I think this is what the team needs to jump the hurdle & keep their pace going. Maybe he can get Werth going as well. Buck's a good manager & all, but it's Davey!
