Source: Davey Johnson to manage Nats

CHICAGO -- The Washington Nationals will name Davey Johnson as their new manager, according to a source familiar with the situation.

Johnson, 68, will manage the team for the rest of the season and next season, subject to league approval.

Johnson, who is a special assistant with the Nationals, last managed in the big leagues in 2000 for the Los Angeles Dodgers. He won a World Series in 1986 as the manager of the New York Mets. An official announcement could come as early as Friday night.

They are playing well, so Davey is coming into a good situation. I wish him the best, and isnt it ironic that Davey is managing the team thats closest to Baltimore?
