I'll tell you when we let Duke back into the game (I DVRed it and am watching right now), is at 3:05 left Maryland up 8 Dez Wells drove got blocked, and grabbed the ball in a crowd. In my head I was thinking, "call a timeout." Instead he threw it out of bounds. SO MANY TURNOVERS. Lazy passes and lazy attempts at coming to the ball. Sometimes I think Faust should never handle the ball ever again, just catch and shoot. Nor Allen. But they did what they needed to do.

Tremendous win. Not much to say other than everyone stepped up. Len made a statement when he needed to. And let's not forget James Padgett. I swear he had some critical points and played some good defense.

Work is not done. Boston College, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Wake Forest coming up. Can't lose to any of them know what I mean? By no means does this win mean we've cemented our place in the NCAA tournament.

I feel like MD could have pulled away in the second half. I remember that Wells play. I thought he should have called a timeout also. I can't say it was that one play that let Duke back in the game. There were way too many turnovers that let Duke stay in this game.

Yeah that one just stood out in my mind. I remember in the first half Mitchell grabbed a block....then threw the ball as far as he could into the back court right back to Duke. It was like wtf? Watching this young team is so frustrating sometimes. Those lost possessions and shots are so big. Wells had another one the next possession, drove right into traffic and lost the ball when we were up 5. Then Curry hit two consecutive threes. Watching him, Faust, and Allen bring the ball up is sometimes so hard to watch.

Anyway, enough of that. We got the win, and it was big. On to Boston College.

Two things on fire tonight in CP. Alex Lin and sofas on rte 1. Great game by Alex. May solidify his status as a lottery pick. If it does I predict he is gone. Good for him, bad for MD. Terps tried to give away, but had just enough to close it out. Great win Terps.

It's a hit for Duke that Pe won't play tonight... not for MD though. MD fans should certainly be pleased with this development.

Good call!

Duke shoots us right out of the building and wins by 15+.

Bad call! :)

This woman announcer is horrific. Can she stop sweating duke for a second?

Yup...she is horrible, want to shove a sock in her mouth.

Seth Allen can't be on the court right now.

At the time, this was absolutely right.

Wanna get drunk? Take a shot every time Allen turns it over.

I can't drink that much anymore.

I can't believe Layman just fouled him.

I actually thought it was a good foul, 3 points down, great shooter, make him hit 3 shots instead of one and we iced him and all with only a bit of time left on the clock (cannot remember the exact time right now, but thought it was low enough to justify the foul).

Seth Allen...FTW

Glad he was still on the court. :) Darn freshmen, going to give us heart trouble!

Go Terps!!!!!

Awesome win for the Terps. They are a flawed team but they deserved that win tonight! Great heart shown by all the guys!

Especially Len. He dominated Plumlee tonight. He's clumsy as hell still, but he really showed up and brought it tonight. Very pleased with his performance and mindset tonight.

After the big win tonight someone said junior Pe'Shon Howard was transferring. Anyone know anything about this news?

Can someone teach Allen, Faust and Wells how to throw a pass with some zip that won't be stolen? Why are they doing crossover dribbles in front of quick guards known for stealing the ball?

What was Layman thinking fouling on a 3 point shot in the final minute? There are a lot of people that still think that's two foul shots intead of three. I know he's a freshman but no way should he have fouled on that play.

Did anyone think Curry was on/over the line on his last three? No replay or any questions by anyone.

Len needs to become Joe Flacco down the stretch now like Flacco was in the Playoffs and leading us to the Super Bowl Win. Announcers all say he should be taking more shots and continues to be single digits every game and with high success rate. He needs to be taking at least 12-14 shots a game and getting 8-10 rebounds. If he's gone after this season so be it but he needs to play hard every game. Without checking the numbers does he play better in night games as opposed to early afternoon? In fact the team seems to play better at night. Maybe Turgeon needs to change their routine. They are flatter and lack quickness in afternoon games. Fatigue? Too much running the night before?

Let's build from this win. Len is a huge factor for this team and if we cut the turnovers in half the Terps could surprise the rest of the way and in the tournament.

    • Good point, no other metropolitan area has more than one team.
    • Could it be that they allowed the Gnats to reside within 30 minutes of their home. Effectively cutting their market in half?
    • Got my all-time low rarity score on today's game - 6.
    • 41 freaking years and here's this guy with the name pickles telling me I should be happy with 91 wins and getting owned in the playoffs again. 😂 😂 I saw a team that looked terrible the second half and probably didn't even deserve that spot the way they were playing .
    • Lol. Here's the funny they know more then you know. Typical Oriole fan who's happy with getting punched in the mouth.
    • I don’t like the wall. I think it’s affecting our hitters. I’ve mentioned before that I think it has totally warped Mountcastle into something he was never really meant to be. The guy came up as a pull-heavy HR hitter, and in his first season-plus (725 PAs), he puts up 38 HRs and a 116 wRC+. Since then, the wRC+ is down to 110, and his approach has totally changed, with his pull numbers plummeting (down from 39% in 2021 to less than 28% this year). He still hits the ball hard, but constantly underachieves his batted ball data — probably because he’s trying to avoid the pull field and hitting balls to the deepest parts of pretty much every other park. Will the same thing happen to Mayo? Maybe he has more pure power, but it’s always going to be a challenge for a RH slugger to survive with that wall. So much harder to do damage.   Beyond that, I think it’s also creating a serious risk of changing our LH hitters’ approaches too. These guys (Henderson, Holliday, Cowser, 2/3 of Adley) have come up with a reputation for being able to drive the ball to all fields. But how long does that continue when they just can’t hit it out to the opposite field? Our LH hitters had a combined 44 wRC+ at OPACY, and only one HR. They had the 3rd most balls hit to LF at home by LHHs, but the lowest wRC+ of any team on those balls (for the second straight year). The Royals, ironically enough, were the only team that was lower than a 70 wRC+ — that’s how much worse our lefties fared going oppo (at OPACY) than everyone else’s. By player: Gunnar Henderson: 112 wRC+ / .160 ISO (51 PAs) Adley Rutschman: 10 wRC+ / .026 ISO (38 PAs) Anthony Santander: 14 wRC+ / .095 ISO (43 PAs) Colton Cowser: 58 wRC+ / .057 ISO (36 PAs) Ryan O’Hearn: 47 wRC+ / .091 ISO (55 PAs) Cedric Mullins: 23 wRC+ / .100 ISO (41 PAs) Jackson Holliday: -72 wRC+ / .000 ISO (16 PAs)   On the road, they had a combined 126 wRC+ (with 9 HRs) going to left field, so it’s not like they’re bad at it. It’s just Death Valley out there in LF for them at OPACY.  How long will it be until these LH guys just start going full pull-happy? Essentially, the opposite of what’s happened with Mountcastle. When (a) your team’s philosophy is to focus on doing damage and (b) you can’t DO damage to the opposite field — the rational endpoint is just to try to pull everything. I don’t think that’s a good outcome. I think it makes them much worse hitters in the other 81 games, and I think it’s a terrible waste of a bunch of really talented hitters with all-field abilities.
