I thought the same thing. But I think the body of work is what it is. I know it’s not an apples to apples comp, but it’s pretty funny that Gil has an ERA+ of 126, and Cowser has a OPS+ of 125.
It wouldn’t be a robbery if either one won it. I think the Yankee pinstripes wins out.
McDermott coming back from the injury puts him into the conversation for the #3 spot behind Basallo and Mayo.
He’s pretty much a fully baked arm versus two questionable hit tool CFs. It’s up in there air, and everyone has their preferences, but #3 isn’t a slam dunk, or even just who should be higher ranked from those 3.
We got lofty standards round here. Haha.
If Honeycutt or Morfe would blow up next year then they probably won’t be in the minors too long. Honeycutt is already in Aberdeen. If he were to absolutely put it all together I don’t think he’d have time to matriculate up a list.
If Morfe blows up, then he’ll be in the majors sooner than later. Only so many bullets in an arm.
Thats why I think @Tony-OH gave a pretty good prediction with Stiven Martinez. He’s tools’d up enough to have the ceiling, while still being young enough to be in the minors for enough time to let the hype/recognition build.
Also, we’re gonna be picking late in the first rd now. While DD did have DJ Stewart has a bust, he did pick up Grayson and Hall. It just shows how long it takes to develop HS arms sometimes. Those guys were picked under DD and probably have a combined 30 MLB GS.
