Yeah, but the improvements Rodriguez has made in pro ball have definitely narrowed the gap. It wouldn't be unreasonable to prefer Rodriguez. 

Gilbert this year is 92-95 t97, big time extension down the mound, plus curveball with great feel to use it as much as necessary, works on LH hitters as well. Above avg slider, fringy changeup that he only uses later in games, above average command. He's about as safe of a mid-rotation starter as there is in the minors. As long as he stays healthy, he's going to be a good piece.

I don't think they were lucky with Rodriguez, they scouted him early and saw big improvements from 2017 to spring 2018, so they had people at every game, they probably knew more about him than any other team and were confident in his ability and makeup.

Rodriguez was our guy. All the experts thought we should’ve take Matthew Liberatore LHP. Tampa took him. Because of that, anytime you see a prospect list, Liberatore is always slightly higher ranked than Rodriguez.

Luke already disagreed with you on this.

To me, they’re both really good prospects and it will be a long time before we know who turns out to be better.
