One of those runs should be charged to Valaika for that awful tag at 3B. Why are you a foot and half in front of the bag on a throw from LF? that's three potential OF assists Hays has lost to infielders making poor tags.

I'm honestly not sure if there is a more worse commercial on the Orioles broadcast than the Facebook Small business commercial. Maybe it's the awful depressing cover of the song "I will survive," but when my wife walks in and goes, "that's depressing" that's a bad commercial.

I have been comparing these infielders to Ryan Flaherty. They don’t hit much better than he did, but his defense was superior to any of them. He was a worthy replacement for Manny when he had his knee problems. I don’t feel the need to see most of these infielders again, and Mountcastle need some real work at first. Whatever his sins with the Bat, Davis was a competent 1b.

Fair enough.  I’m hoping Mancini is healthy enough to play next year.   I feel he worked hard at becoming a decent 1B and had pretty much gotten there last year despite playing the position in only about 1/3 of the games.    Of course, the most important thing is for Mancini to be healthy for his own sake.

All during his development, Mountcastle’s defense was questioned. After Tony’s comments, it’s clear that he’s not really suited for LF. That awful foul ball he missed was almost as embarrassing as Sisco letting the ball fall out of his hand on that stolen base attempt. That means that MC appears destined for 1B or DH, But that’s Mancini  best spot too, and they can’t platoon. They both need to play.

He's gotta be more of a professional than that. I don't know what led to that (probably awful home plate umpire work which seems to be worse than ever this year) but in a 3-2 game in the 6th, you can't get yourself tossed.

Meanwhile, the streaky Yankees have won 8 games in a row ........ the White Sox, the Athletics, and the Rays have been the Big 3 in the American league for the better part of this abbreviated season. The Twins and the Yankees are a few games behind those teams, likely headed for middle-of-the-pack playoff seedings.
