Wow, looking at that site, so many of the worst logos feature a hockey stick. Makes you think about the angry bird and the bat.

I never wanted to have that bird be the logo. I was trying to say that the head of that bird would be a good option (with updates of course). It could be a hybrid of a retro-look that was rarely used with a new-21st century theme.

On a side note, I feel like we all got worked up about the whole "logo change". And, as it is a small change, we all became somewhat dissapointed because we set our goals too high. Pretty simple thought-process. Seems like it happens all the time, withe tardes, free agent signings, etc.

Keep in mind, the site is one man's admittedly arbitrary opinion. Basically, he doesn't want something stupid or that has to scream in your face via the presence of equipment or the use of "Ice-" in the name, "This is a hockey team!"

And lest we forget, the greatest minor league hockey team name ever:

The changes are so suttle there is no reason to waste money on buying the new hat; what were they thinking?

Yeah, I will wait to see what they officially unveil... I am just hoping they get rid of the O, and the two-toned bill... find both repulsive.

I dont remember where I read it but everything is gone except the O hat.

This does coincide with Roch's statement of both subtle and obvious changes in the uniforms. So if that is in fact the new hat what else may be revealed?

Lets see what has been rumored...

- The new hat (this could be the real thing leaked early, wonder if there is a new road hat?)

- Baltimore on the road jersey (widely accepted but hasn't been seen)

- One, possibly 2 new patches on the jerseys (haven't been seen but speculated)

- New piping (mentioned on that uniform forum the name escapes me?)

- Something that speaks to the past and the future of the organization (altered number fonts? new alternate jersey? This one is really up in the air)

Well we don't have to wait much longer to find out.

I'm with Moose on this one. This hat just isn't "cool". In fact, I think I like the current one a little better. It's too early to go all retro on the 90's. This just isn't something I'm likely to wear or buy. I'll stick with the cartoon bird and dream of better days...

If that is the hat (and I believe that it is) then I am very disappointed. I have been looking forward to getting the new O's hat when I am back in town for Thanksgiving. I have been telling my wife about the new hats for weeks. It didn't even have to be a cartoon bird to make me happy, just something different. I am sick of the "evolving" bird that is on the hats. If you are not from Baltimore you cannot quickly tell the difference between ANY of the bird hats for the last 20 years. The "O's" script hat is stupid and grammatically incorrect.

I will NOT buy this hat out of principle.

I like the new hat personally. It returns the bird to more logo-like, yet keeps the detail. The old/current bird looks like someone lifted it out of a Field Guide to Birding book. The new one is more symmetric, slightly smaller and looks a lot better on the hat.

I would have hoped they would have lifted the "B" from "Baltimore" on the away jersey and slapped that on a hat. That would have been tight. I would have bought me a camoflaugued one and one that has a Detroit Pistons and Orioles logo on it and then never flattened the brim and worn it sideways.

I don't know about the new uniforms, but I have heard, in the past, she and her son, John Angelos have had a lead role in the changes.

I'm hanging onto the hope that the new cap design is some sort of scrapped prototype that was accidentally leaked somehow. It seems all they did was take the current bird, tuck in his claws and angle his beak up a little. Who would shell out the bucks to buy a new hat based on those minuscule changes?

I was excited when I heard "nod to the past", but I didn't think "past" meant early 90's.
