Notes

  • Orioles have won 3 in a row for the 6th time this year.   In each of the first 5 times, they failed to make it 4 in a row.
  • Orioles won 6 games in a 31 game stretch starting when Matt Harvey got blasted at Citi Field and ending a week ago Friday with Keegan Akin getting bombed  in Kansas City.   They now have won 6 games in an 8 game stretch since then.
  • The Orioles are carrying 13 pitchers so they are shorthanded on the bench, yet they have a pitcher in Eshelman who has not pitched in 17 days and a pitcher in Anderson who has not pitched in a week.

Just looked at Eshelman’s stats and his BB9 is higher than his SO9 rate. And in 18 innings pitched he’s already worth a -0.3 WAR.

Hey, they told him to miss bats, and that's the only way he can do it.

Urghh, I knew in my gut but didn't dare post it. I've always dreaded Leon in these deep counts (he learned how to get his pitches in Boston) and feared he would do damage....especially since Watkins doesn't have a wipe-out pitch in his repertoire to save him from batters timing his narrow range of speeds in a long at-bat.
