Lineup vs Lefties

Interested to see how Hyde lines up vs lefties after the trade deadline. He’s been pretty pronounced in his preference to platoon lefties, especially the young ones. Will he keep Holliday in vs a lefty? Will McCann continue to catch every game vs lefties? Will Adley get the whole day off instead of DH? Which of Cowser or Mullins sit? Will Slater start every game vs lefties?

I'm afraid Urias will get the auto start as a “mateo replacement.” I think we will see something like this:

Cowser CF

Mountcastle 1B

Gunnar SS

Santander RF

Jimenez DH

Urias 2B

Slater LF

Mayo 3B

McCann C

Question to me is who is Leadoff. Perhaps it’s Slater. I can’t disagree with your guess. I think Adley plays tonight.

just posted in lineup thread. I was wrong about Adley. Did get Slater right. Also Jackson not Urias.

Yup I had 8/9 right. A little shocked he didn’t put Urias in there, guess that means Holliday/Mayo will truly be every day which is good to see. Slater at leadoff is … something.

not having Mateo and Westburg is pretty devastating to our lefty lineups.

I think Slater may surprise. Maybe he likes the way Jackson is swinging so he played him tonight.

    • Mounty, Urias, Westburg and Kjerstad. That’s a lot more than you are saying especially since you are playing guys more often than you should (see OHearn), you are playing too many bad players because you don’t have anything else and you are also trying to play rookies at a time where they are learning but are being thrusted into more everyday roles. And that’s also assuming Adley is healthy. So basically, you have multiple “easy outs” in the lineup every game. Your lineup doesn’t have length. You have guys who are tired because they are playing so often.
    • If they need up playing KC it will feel like it. The bats obviously won’t hit, Witt will kill us and the whole team will run circles on our pitchers and Adley on the base paths
    • What a feeling that would be!
    • Agreed- the only way for the offense to soar its time for these guys to start producing like they did in the minors/like they have been drafted and hyped to do. I know thats easier said than done, but over the past 5 years no team in baseball has had more prospect position player talent than the O's come up through the pipeline than the O's and its not really close. You cant expect every prospect to stick, but- Gunnar, Adley, Westburg, Cowser, Holliday, Mayo, Kjerstad, Ortiz, Hernaiz, Norby, Stowers. Thats an absurd about of talent to all make their debuts from 2022-2024.
    • Luckily this isn’t Reddit where they think everything is peaches and roses and Elias is dear leader
    • Fire the dang hitting coaches all 3 of them
    • The hitting has no excuse. They haven’t been decimated by injuries like the pitching. We’ve spent so much draft capital on hitting. There’s no next prospect to call up.  It’s time for all the highly drafted hitting prospects to produce. We aren’t dead, and the could thing about a young group is that they can grow up really fast. We’re just running out of time this year.
