Arrieta and Patton to Norfolk?

A friend in Conn. just told me Arrieta said at the game tonight he has been called up to Norfolk and left seperate from the rest of the team. Can't confirm but we may see something the next 24 hours.

If that's the case, don't be surprised to see Tim Bascom in Bowie (pure speculation) as Bascom's rotation spot was skipped tonight as Kenny Moreland joined the Keys from extended spring as Nate Nery was put on Aberdeen's roster.

Not sure if there is a connection but Kenny Moreland started for Frederick tonight and he hadn't started for them or anyone for that matter all season. I'm assuming that if he was added to Frederick then maybe someone else from Frederick (hmmmm?) might be moving up to take Arrieta's place. This one could spread like wildfire!

He got struck in the leg really hard by a line drive Friday night (major scare on the mound), and as of Sunday evening was not able to do any working out. That bruise was pretty nasty on his thigh. We'll see though, but it could be likely he goes north.

My guess is on Tim Bascom though until I'm proven wrong or if we've been hoaxed.

I'm hearing some serious rumblings that pitchers Troy Patton and Jake Arrieta are being moved up from Double-A Bowie to Triple-A Norfolk.

It's too early in the morning to get confirmation, but I'll obviously keep you posted.

It's a shame they called Salazar up, since they are not going to use him. He could help the Tides keep on winning. It's even a bigger shame if they lose him to waivers trying to move him off the 25 man.

Yeah, I was out of town when the Salazar promotion occured, but I really don't understand it. What's the point when you have Huff, Scott and Wigginton already on the roster? Maybe they were just trying to reward Salazar, but I don't get the move.

Anyway, it would be cool if these rumors were true, and a little surprising IMO. Arrieta's been good but not great at Bowie, so I wasn't really expecting a promotion for him yet.

Matusz is listed as the starter for Frederick today, and he has also been named to the Carolina League all-star team which will play on June 23. I'd be slightly surprised if they moved him now, but I certainly wouldn't feel he's being rushed. He's ready.

Yeah I expect they'll wait with him. They even mentioned recently that he was on the Wieters plan as well and he didn't get promoted until the AS break despite dominating.
