His mom was my high school spanish teacher. She was always so proud of him while he was climbing up the minors and turning into something of a journeyman. He subbed for my class one time and they are two of the nicest people ever.

I saw her a couple years after I graduated, I think around the time he ended up with the Sox, and she said she was retiring and that Javier bought her a house. She was so happy. I've always rooted for him.
