I am not filling out a bracket this year for the first time in I don't know how long. Just going to watch and enjoy. I'm not even going to look at the full bracket until Wednesday night or Thursday so I can see what games I'd like to watch.

What 1st round games is everyone the most excited for (outside of teams you root for, obviously)?

Gonzaga / FSU, Cornell / Temple, Marquette / Washington, and Richmond / St Mary's should all be fantastic games.

A lot of the 2 - 7/10 games should be great in round 2.

And a potential Ohio St. v Georgetown game in the Sweet 16 already has me excited.

New Mexico/Montana appeals to me. I haven't seen NM play, and they seem like an exciting team. Montana has that guy who just scored 42 in their conference tourney...could be a fun one.

I'm also looking forward to UTEP/Butler, Marquette/Washington, and Wisconsin/Wofford. I could be convinced to take Wofford...and I could be convinced to put Wisconsin in the Final Four.

Butler/UTEP (I think Butler could go to the Final four if they win here)

OK St/Ga Tech

Tex/Wake (2 worst coaches ever, someone has to win)

ND/ODU

Lousville/Duke in round 2 as well as Richmond/Nova could both be potential upsets..

Is that because you have faith in L'ville or his your Dook hatred clouding judgment?

I am really worried about Louisville/Duke...One thing I don't want to do early in the tourney is play a really talented underavhieving team(like say Texas) or play a decent team with a great coach, like Louisville.

I really wish Duke was playing the NIU/UNLV winner...For all the talk of how hard Kansas's bracket is, they have the easiest road to the sweet 16.

I am going to be interested to see how the ACC performs this year...The conference isn't that good but neither is the rest of the college basketball.

I expect FSU and Wake to lose in the first round...Clemson/Missouri is a toss up. GT has a tough matchup but I do think they will beat OSU but Anderson is a beast.

I expect Duke and MD to win with ease in the first round but their second round games are likely to be extremely difficult.

I only expect Duke to get out of the first weekend but a loss to Louisville, a team that has beaten Cuse twice(including at Syracuse) wouldn't be surprising at all.

When it comes to gambling, I can be objective..I think Louisville can definitely beat Duke regardless of my feelings towards Rat Fac, I mean Coach Krsljrojrksdforgnsdvcvmwdofkweasdfwerfski.

So if L'ville knocks off Dook...who in the heck makes the Elite 8 from that half of the South? There really are no other "good" teams there. If Dook can't make that Elite 8, they should be banned from future post season play.

Haha I was waiting for you to comment on this game from the minute I saw the pairing. I think Texas wins it pretty easily. Wake is in shambles, not that Texas is riding high right now, though. I also think Barnes is a better coach than Dino, although better should probably be in quotations.

Does Texas have any healthy guards left?

I'm taking Utah State.

Seriously.

Its all about matchups...The fact that if Duke "only" gets to the sweet 16 in a one and done tourney is looked at as a failure just goes to show you how impressive their run has been.

Louisville is an up and down team coached by a great coach...They have some size, play in the best conference in the country and have some quality wins.

There would be no shame in losing that game.

Now, i agree that the bracket sets up nicely for Duke and I do think Louisville is the best team they will play until the elite 8 and maybe, even including the elite 8. It would be very disappointing to see this Duke team fail to get into the sweet 16 this year...They are clearly one of the better teams in the country..Pomeroy rankings have them #1.

So is my 7 year old daughter. In fact, I'm going to let her pick that game. I'll root for Wake if only for ACC Pride (except Duke).

Imagine Barnes vs. Calipari in the second round...oy vey, there might be 150 turnovers,78 missed foul shots, and 4 arrests in that game.

Don't the recruiting violations. If Calipari reaches the final four this year, what are the odds that he eventually vacates it?

    • Did we ? You can’t possibly know that. Apparently, Elias got a player he thought he could fix.  Sorry but I just don’t think Rogers is as good as Irvin with his diminished stuff. I think he’s essentially a throw away. It would be wise to extend Eflin now while we still can. That way the resources used to get him can actually provide some long term value. Dominguez was an ok pickup…I don’t hate the deal. Problem is we needed a closer and he’s isn’t that. Thankfully Bautista is returning and will push him down the depth chart a slot or two. Soto ….Agreed, you bring him back if you can’t find a better option. I expect them to keep him. Otherwise, giving up Seth Johnson with our minors pitching quality shortage looks like a bad decision  Eloy didn’t cost much …. My general thought is pick ups like him didn’t matter beyond how you grade those acquisitions on a team that “Really Wanted to Win”. I question this because none of the guys that we picked up where having good seasons elsewhere. My thoughts are the same for Rivera …. He was a 563 OPS in Miami but got hot here and was a .948 here. His career OPS is .676 so his stint here is probably not repeatable. His projected arb number is 1.4 million so they likely keep him around as a piece and he’s young enough that maybe the change in scenery caused the light to come on.   By the way … here’s a piece from Roch about sone of these guys.   https://www.masnsports.com/blog/taking-another-look-at-orioles-roster-decisions
    • This has to count as one of the, if not the, biggest choke in ALCS history. Up 5-3 with two outs and no one on in the ninth, after you came back from 1-3 in the eight, with a chance to put a lock on the series.
    • Reverse jinx works again! 😆 🥳
    • Clay Holmes' agent could have used the season ending a good couple months ago. It was nice seeing a chink in Luke Weaver's armor.    Gunnar Henderson v. Anthony Volpe is kind of a centerpiece of Mike Elias mostly out-General Managing Brian Cashman the last half decade, but Luke Weaver v. Craig Kimbrel is not a good chapter and flipping those two guys might have changed the 2024 division.
    • I have all sorts of credit cards that charge interest because they provide me with tens of thousands of dollars in free interest. That said, I never pay interest, because I always pay off the balance each month.
    • My friend and I each had flex plans. Him $2500 and me $1300. Neither of us renewed. Are schedules are too difficult to commit to a set plan and the lack of perks for the lower-tier set plans and flex plans make it not worth letting the Os earn the float on our money.
